The barriers are finally down! The Bazalgette Embankment next to Blackfriars Bridge is pen, following years of work on the supersewer. For the first time in London's history, it's possible to walk along the north bank from Westminster to Tower without straying more than a few metres from the river.

Michael Bond, creator of Paddington bear, would have been 100 today (he died in 2017 not long after a cameo in the first Paddington movie). A 2-D statue of the author, holding his greatest creation, can be found in St Mary's churchyard, just north of Paddington station

The V&A has a silk programme marking the 2239th performance of The Mousetrap (surely the only object in the world to commemorate the 2239th occurrence of anything). This was the point when it became London's longest-running play. It's still going 68yrs later. #AgathaChristie

That's very true. In my school, chinney-reckon evolved somehow into chinney-yoy, which eventually became just 'Yoy!' (which could be repeated quick-fire for maximum annoyance). I don't know why, or if that variant got picked up elsewhere.
