Had the best visit with a junior book club last night. As usual the kids were smart & insightful & curious & creative. I know everything is on fire but we have to continue giving kids opportunities & encouragement. We're all in trouble if we don't keep them excited to do good & interesting things.

I just read another book with COMPLETELY POINTLESS SA. This one tricked me and snuck it in at the end of the book so I couldn't DNF. GUYS I AM BEGGING YOU THERE ARE OTHER WAYS TO MAKE FEMALE CHARACTERS INTERESTING AND WORTHY OF A READER'S ATTENTION AND EMPATHY. FFS.

I am begging for a book that will scare me the way horror did when I was a kid. Not gross me out - gore isn't scary - but crawl under my skin and under my bed and make me hide under the covers. I read lots of good horror but none of it scares me anymore. Whatcha got??
