Woah, pinned post time! I’m Laura Ketcham, an illustrator specializing in horror art, linocut, and mixed media. I’ve worked in the TTRPG scene and create supplemental materials for games as well as editorial pieces. I like fishing and I’m bad at it. Let’s be pals!

If you know basic kabbalah it's actually not too hard to make a golem out of a labubu. Don't recommend it though. They have a pre-existing body-dharma. As soon as they wake they run straight for the sea. V hard to counter. Lost the first one. No idea what it's doing out there. Moved like lightning.

David Simon, creator of ‘The Wire’, being interviewed by Ari Shapiro (NPR)
SHAPIRO: OK, so you've spent your career creating television without Al, and I could imagine today you thinking, boy, I wish I had had that tool to solve those thorny problems...
SIMON: What?
SHAPIRO: ...Or saying...
SIMON: You imagine that?
SHAPIRO: ...Boy, if that had existed, it would have screwed me over.
SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this.
SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.

The wingless Sphinx hasn’t notice you…yet. So you still have time to prepare for her riddles
An illustration of a walking wingless sphinx in profile moving to the right. She has bright red fur with a slightly darker spotted pattern on her back. Her face is pale with dark scleras and bright irises. She has a patch of light fur on her chest and tail

Drawings been kinda hard lately so instead I’ve been making mixed media poly clay guys. This one featuring a dog tooth I bought at a late night Baltimore garage sale that I gold leafed lmao
Image of a three-faced figure with arms locked around knees, grey/green with mossy crevices. A stick, a bell, and a hagstone are tied with string to a metal ring sticking out of its back. people on here apparently need to learn a lesson most of us learn in elementary school, which is that it’s fucking rude to correct people on zero stakes things and doing so leads rightfully to social ostracism

It's little Alex Horne!

Reminder: I'm running a special on pencil portrait commissions to help pay for booktour travel, healthcare, and wedding costs. I've also opened up my weekly drawing giveaways to the general public at just $5! Wow! You can't afford NOT to keep food on my table.

Miyazaki survived the bombing of Utsunomiya as a child. His family escaped in a car, but left a neighbor and her daughter behind to save themselves. Miyazaki regrets this, and said this has stayed with him and shaped his film making. He hopes his audience will learn the courage he lacked in 1945.

Saaame. I think it was marketed as a straightforward horror/monster movie when it isn’t and that led to it being trashed at the time

have been desperately looking for this old erotic Spanish comic I stumbled on almost 10 years ago called "El secreto de Frankenstein" and I'm so happy to report I finally found it
black & white comic panel depicting a sexy, thicc Frankenstein's monster disrobing in 3 different poses - pulling his shirt of his shoulder, seen at an angle; from the front, shirtless, beginning to take his pants off; then almost totally nude as seen from behind. the words at the top read "Strip-tease de Frankenstein..."

Two years of continued and livestreamed genocide following decades of occupation, colonization, ethnic cleansing, and war crimes is sitting heavy in our hearts and souls.

We must continue to fight for liberation beyond fiction. From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free. 🇵🇸

Please, just stop sending me AI videos of Dad. Stop believing I wanna see it or that I'll understand, I don't and I won't. If you're just trying to troll me, I've seen way worse, i'll restrict and move on. But please, if you've got any decency, just stop doing this to him and to me, to everyone even, full stop. It's dumb, it's a waste of time and energy, and believe me, it's NOT what he'd want.
To watch the legacies of real people be condensed down to 'this vaguely looks and sounds like them so that's enough,
, just so
other people can churn out horrible TikTok slop puppeteering them is maddening. You're not making art, you're making disgusting, over-processed hotdogs out of the lives of human beings, out of the history of art and music, and then shoving them down someone else's throat hoping they'll give you a little thumbs up and like it.
Gross. And for the love of EVERYTHING, stop calling it 'the future. Al is just badly recycling and regurgitating the past to be reconsumed. You are taking in the Human Centipede of content, and from the very very end of the line, all while the folks at the front laugh and laugh, consume and consume.
