If nothing else it's better that kids from wealthy and middle class families go to the same public schools even with some separate tracked classes than that they go to private school.

Zohran Mamdani phasing out gifted programs for kindergarteners is fine.

But in later grades, progressive opposition to "tracking" is misguided imo. Ability sorting can be beneficial for all students, when done right www.vox.com/politics/464...

Japan: Komeito (Centre-right) leader Tetsuo Saito has conveyed his intention to LDP (Conservative) President Sanae Takaichi that Komeito will end its coalition with the LDP.

The one thing S Korea is genuinely more progressive than on Japan is any remaining cultural stigma to baekjeong descent was obliterated in the Korean War while in JP Taro Aso opposed a candidate for LDP leadership due to him being of buraku descent.

We are measuring how progressive the outcomes are though. By that measure, European type sectoral bargaining/tripartitism represents more workers and produces more material benefits than blue states where we just give guildlike privileges over a few unions in chokepoint areas of the economy.

Trump isn't executing rich people. I don't think a message against left wing terror/authoritarianism is somehow invalid but its a much more specific theme than "demagoguery bad".

two thing that annoys me about Lee Kuan Yew worship is that nobody who does it seems to care about *modern* singaporean politicians and American right-wingers who do it would never accept LKY's policies of, e.g., massive public housing projects in a country that makes posting racism illegal
