i was taught to be "hunt." sex raised to status of eating. my whole being tied to it, my ability to get it. my whole self worth tied to it, among other things. unfortunately, in this "having" society, where you are nothing if you don't have or can't get (money, sex, clothes, status, etc.), it's almost impossible to be a hunter and TRULY care about your prey. even as a guy raised by women, who tried to respect women, i fell into the mindset of using. no matter how nice and polite i was, it was using. they always wanted more, and i rarely did. i played the game because i wouldn't get any if i was 100% myself. as a guy, coming of age in the late 90s early 2000s, i learned what girls like and i made myself in that image (to the extent i found acceptable). it takes courage to be yourself, be honest, detach your self worth from "getting women." it means less sex, but life isn't about how many women i can get. detaching my self worth from my ability to "get women" has allowed me to be myself fully, tap into my empathy, compassion, love (things i hid because i was taught i was too sensitive). detaching has allowed me to respect myself fully and only fuck with who fuck with the real me, not the false me. it's liberating. many men are stuck in a patriarchal paradigm like many people are stuck in a capitalist, white supremacist, hierarchical paradigm. WOMEN: form women only organizations where you learn to protect yourself. learn how to handle firearms, learn bush craft, survival skills, because many men think that yall will fall in line when shtf. peace. -benny beekles

Dominant groups support digressive victimhood claims to counter accusations of discrimination

Abstract
When dominant groups are accused of discrimination against non-dominant groups, they often seek to portray themselves as the victims of discrimination instead. Sometimes, however, members of dominant groups counter accusations of discrimination by invoking victimhood on a new dimension of harm, changing the topic being discussed. Across three studies (N = 3081), we examine two examples of this digressive victimhood – Christian Americans responding to accusations of homophobia by claiming threatened religious liberty, and White Americans responding to accusations of racism by claiming threatened free speech. We show that members of dominant groups endorse digressive victimhood claims more strongly than conventional competitive victimhood claims (i.e., ones that claim “reverse discrimination”). Additionally, accounting for the fact that these claims may also stand to benefit a wider range of people and appeal to more abstract principles, we show that this preference is driven by the perception that digressive victimhood claims are more effective at silencing further criticism from the non-dominant group. Underscoring that these claims may be used strategically, we observed that individuals high in outgroup prejudice were willing to express a positive endorsement of the digressive victimhood claims even when they did not fully support the principle they claimed to be defending (e.g., freedom of religion or speech). We discuss implications for real-world intergroup conflicts and the psychology of dominant groups.

Force compliance: In workplaces and other hierarchical structures, phrases like "that's just company policy" or "it's above your pay grade" are used to discourage questions and enforce compliance. This prevents meaningful dialogue and preserves the existing power structure.
Evade accountability: Clichés like "it is what it is" allow those in power to sidestep responsibility for their decisions or for harmful situations they've created. This provides a quick, emotionally disengaging way to move on without resolving the issue.
Promote groupthink: Phrases that emphasize unity over dissent, such as "there's no 'I' in 'team'," can suppress individual voices and enforce conformity. This fosters an environment where people fear social exclusion if they voice an objection.
Gaslight and invalidate: In personal relationships and other contexts, thought-terminating clichés can be used as a form of gaslighting. Phrases like "you're overreacting" or "stop thinking so much" are used to invalidate a person's emotional experience and make them doubt their own perceptions.
