Papers could be written and likely have about the party that hates women being suspicious of "mom" energy in society. Is everyone warm, are we all fed, is everyone safe? They are literally some of the least suspicious concerns in the world, but the right is terrified by them.

Solidarity is a beautiful—and powerful—thing.
The march is now passing the Chicago city hall / Cook County hall building. The chant goes up,

"Minnesota don't you fear, we, the people, are right here"

it is so cool that people will just volunteer the information that they have never voted in their life in the course of screaming at you about how you'll never be able to vote again

Commercial AI is dehumanization. It is evasion of accountability. It is the machine which has been chosen to smuggle totalitarianism into democracies.

This tells me that Jeffries has no interest in enforcing our constitution and our laws. Impeaching Trump is not a strategy, it’s not a poll point, it’s JUSTICE. It’s what the constitution demands! If they can’t manage to care about that we will just be sleepwalking until the next tyrant.
This guy sucks. Why should we ever vote for the democrats then?

That is not enough snow to intimidate Chicago even if people weren't mad
Good afternoon from downtown Chicago, where despite heavy snowfall, thousands have gathered for an anti-ICE/CBP demonstration in solidarity with the Twin Cities. More are still streaming in.

Lt. Illinois Gov. Juliana Stratton just addressed the crowd, and called for ICE to be abolished.

More updates on the student snow brigade: bsky.app/profile/skwi...
Their numbers are growing, it appears to be completely decentralized, with people shouting out updates like “we’re needed on 4th street!” plus loud cheers when they identify someone in need of help and loud cheers when a vehicle is freed.

Feels like society’s really broken down in the US in a way that’s deeply traumatic.

But also there are college students knocking on doors asking for shovels (they’re not well-prepared) and helping trapped motorists by shoveling and pushing out cars. Up to 24 of them now, wandering streets together

Bush started ICE, but it was during the Obama years when they signed the contracts with local law enforcement, instituted Secure Communities/Priority Enforcement Program and 287(g), and set the norm of ICE as an unaccountable agency being written blank checks every fiscal year.

Minnesota National Guard members have arrived at a federal building and were directed to distribute donuts, coffee, and hot chocolate to anti-ICE protesters. Guard members were issued reflective vests so they would not be mistaken for federal agents.

I don't mean this in the sense that you often see online that Jesus was a migrant whose family fled persecution, which is true, of course. I mean that the vast majority of the families they are tormenting right now are devout, practicing Christians.

After decades of conservative Christians whining about how life in a modern, pluralistic and democratic society—with its rights for people and lifestyles they hate—amounts to persecution of them and their beliefs, they are now—in the most literal sense of the term—persecuting Christians.

CBP chief Bovino has confirmed that the officers who executed Alex Pretti in the street yesterday are not only *not on administrative leave,* they have all been reassigned to other jurisdictions and are all on the street today.

This is totally unheard of for any officer-involved shooting

and the violence is a kind of proof that they do not have sufficient power
the answer to “why are you trying to intimidate and scare me?” is always “because they can’t just do the thing.”

an individual may revel in the bullying itself, but no SYSTEM would waste the time and energy if they could just… do it

it’s a low-power method of control
