It is genuinely insane to watch capital decide that allowing this shit to go on is better for them than having to allow the FTC to do mild monopoly investigations and require cancellation buttons on websites.

He's not going to end it. You know he's not. So what are you going to do about it.
I just spoke with the White House after another horrific shooting by federal agents this morning. Minnesota has had it. This is sickening.

The President must end this operation. Pull the thousands of violent, untrained officers out of Minnesota. Now.

Habituating yourself to graphic depictions of horror may FEEL like moral practice.

It is not.

Moral speech and action is the moral practice.

The AP reports that an ICE officer responded to those protesting the cold blood murder this morning by mockingly saying, “‘Boo hoo.’”

“Agents elsewhere shoved a yelling protester into a car.”

Trump & Vance’s agents saw tens of thousands of people — of all ages & races — come out *in below zero temperatures* to protest their tax-funded violence, their murder of their neighbor.

And the very next day, they executed another one.

What can Americans conclude from this?

to deal with a lack of local control over police, eventually, a politician is going to have to ADMIT that they don't have control over their police.

so it's all ultimately an argument of when we think that should happen.

so many reforms circle around this. to try to dodge the central issue. to not even admit to it out loud. to find some kind of cheat code or jerry rigged solution that'll allow them to fix the issue without admitting the issue is there. to achieve radical change almost invisibly.

not gonna happen.

this is one of the things about 'retraining', why people are so hot on it as an idea: it is in part an attempt to skirt the necessary conflict, to dodge it. to avoid the actual matter of the lack of local control over police - and ICE itself - and hope they'll just solve themselves.

What authority does ICE have to arrest or detain citizens who witnessed a homicide?
Per this report ICE has detained several witnesses
ICE attempted to order local police from the scene of the Minneapolis shooting, but the police chief refused and instructed his officers to preserve the crime scene.

You do not need to traumatize yourself to be a better person, a better activist, to better oppose the people and forces engaged in this murderous evil. You just need to know it's happening and take action.

Counterpoint: you can and some of you will give yourselves honest to G-d PTSD watching it. Doing that will make you less able to maintain your life, to experience the joy you need to be resilient, to nurture the relationships that will support you, and to be an effective activist.
I understand why some can’t watch the video and absolutely support that choice. But if you can, I think you should. Yes, there have been so many of these over the years; *and* these are escalating times. It’s not more the same, it’s worse, and we need to face that best we can to change it.

What we’ve seen in other countries is the violence of the state is directly proportional to the weakness and, often, illegitimacy of the regime in power.
Extrajudicial killings are not the sign of a strong regime but they may be the portent of a bloody one.

If you’re not from here, I need to explain this execution was on Eat Street, a commercial corridor of restaurants and coffee shops that literally everyone goes to. Normies, queermos, weirdos, neighborhood folks. Whatever that place is in your city, imagine ICE executing someone in cold blood there.

Federal law enforcement officers do not have absolute immunity from state-law criminal prosecutions.

They do get something called Supremacy Clause immunity, which would not cover extrajudicial executions but does mean it’s procedurally trickier than a normal felony prosecution
