Normally a judge in a mandamus proceeding would be included as a party or otherwise be allowed to directly file a response (as directed) using the online CM/ECF system.
Because the file was sealed in a way that he could not access, he was forced to submit a response by way of a letter to chambers.

imo of all the formal political institutions in US life, the judiciary has given the best account of itself by a pretty large margin (with the obvious exception of SCOTUS) and a younger me was way more dismissive of the courts than history would prove deserved
A magistrate judge found no probable cause to support arrest warrants for 5 people involved in the St. Paul church protest.

DOJ appealed to the 8th Cir.

That appeal led to this remarkable letter from the Chief Judge of the Minnesota district court…

Saying there must be trials isn't just an emotive aspiration.

Congress can:
- Create a new court (complying w/ 6A jury vicinage)
- Give it jurisdiction over defined category of crimes
- Also create dedicated prosecutors for the same
- Strip SCOTUS of appellate jurisdiction

It can be done.

JUST IN: ICE agents in Minnesota arrested an employee at the St. Louis Park Homewood Suites — where they were staying to help carry out Operation Metro Surge.

A federal judge just ordered the man's release.

Look, Democrats couldn’t even find it in themselves to protect people after one of their state level colleagues was assassinated. Nothing will ever be enough to get this leadership to protect the people in this country.

We have been told for nearly 30 years that America needed to tolerate mass shootings because the broad availability of guns would help us defend ourselves from an overreaching federal government. That day has come. The people who said this are supporting the federal agents. Many have joined them.

All the 'they are going to rig elections' and 'this is a distraction from X' stuff coming out of America feels really weird because at this point the Republicans are just asserting they have the ability to shoot anyone they want for any reason and when you're doing that you don't need conspiracies.

What a stark, horrifying demonstration of the tension a union opens itself to when it organizes security forces.

If you hesitate to condemn the killing of a member, for fear of alienating the members who fired the guns, what sort of cage have you built around your union?
My god.

Statement from AFGE: Alex was a member. His killer may have been as well.

It is important to understand: the regime knows these are lies. Their supporters know they are lies. They know we know they are lies.

They take pleasure in repeating thee lies as if they are truth, because they think it gives them power over us. Look at me, they say, I can repeat the lie.
They just keep fucking coming up with lie after lie to fit their narrative🤬

It's the PTO moms and spreadsheet dads and other random-ass Minnesotans concerned for their neighbors. There is no one central organizing org, just a ton of people who give a shit. It's both beautiful that it's happening and laughable that anyone thinks there's some broader apparatus at work.
James O'Keefe says he's never seen anything so organized as the anti-ICE movement, observers--he seems to think this term is code--everywhere he goes. Who is paying for it??? he demands to know. It's like he can't even imagine people caring for one another.
