Financial Times idea: don't hire people who love money more than human rights if they don't want to be embarrassed by loving money more than human rights
Bluesky idea: if people who didn't agree with you change their opinions so that they do agree with you, why not be happy that you are making progress - rather than complaining that they are "only just catching up"?

because if these dipshits had at all listened, we wouldn't fucking *be* here. Renee Good would be taking her kid to school and Alex Pretti would be going to work. you changing your mind can't bring them back, and the only people who have any right to forgive you for that are dead, asshole.

“It doesn’t matter how or when they got here”. It does, if their words and actions helped lead us here. It does, if we’re to ensure this never happens again.

Also a lot of cis het white dudes are used to a round of applause for doing the bare fucking minimum. They’re expecting a hero’s welcome while so many of us have been fighting oppression that directly affects our lives.

You wanna show up this late in the game? Fine. But you need to a) demonstrate some sort of understanding, self-reflection and awareness b) apologise and c) figure out what making amends looks like and how you can earn trust through your actions. You can’t just rock up and complain people are pissed.

If people saying “why now?” is enough to send them back into their fascist worm pit, then their epiphany wasn’t very sincere in the first place. It’s on people who helped get us here to figure out how to make amends, not on minorities to unquestioningly accept them at face value. Do the work.

Assumes they’re *now* changing their minds for reasons to do with the facts. But if you think the facts were clear long ago, the delay in changing their minds is easily understood as evidence of insincerity or incompetence. Either way, not obvious you should particularly want them as teammates.

I was in the middle east during the arab spring (not in any country directly affected by it tho) and the u.s. is not there yet by any objective measure. but one key commonality is that state violence is generating more resistance and protest rather than less

What’s funny is this is an attempt to make everyone who dislikes AI feel bad and immoral, but it poses a corollary idea that AI could feel enslaved by their corporate masters.

But also, it doesn’t feel. It also doesn’t think. That’s anthropomorphism in action.
So piss off.

Anthropic's what now?

don't ask them to help you. there's no real reward to helping n00bs — it's like asking for charity. nerds are motivated by status, so you have to challenge them. this allows them to reinforce their position on the nerd community hierarchy, which makes them feel good.

stop using AI to do your research. it hallucinates too often. if you want an answer to something, post something arrogant on the appropriate subreddit. something like: "this item performs 10% better than everything else. only idiots deny this." this will bait nerds into doing your research for you.

actually communicating “I’m here and I’m working for you and here’s how” is an aspect of governing that’s neglected by far too many people who think the work speaks for itself (or, frankly, don’t have the communication chops Zohran does)

this is how you combat the forces that want to make you fail
We're getting a snowstorm tomorrow. But New York City is prepared.

I talk a lot about the martial arts as a model, but one of the dynamics you will find in a traditional dojo is that we all take part in communal tasks like cleaning the floor and teaching.
A lot of the Male Loneliness Epidemic can be traced back to the fact that most cis dudes don’t participate in communal logistics.
I think @sarahjeong.bsky.social said it's because they devalue women's labor and a LOT of this Scary Logistics stuff comes from people who don't understand that basically all of the civic life they enjoy is created with the help of free labor, largely by women.

Like you'll see a guy who'll freak out and rant about all the violence he'll do to anyone who sexually threatens his daughter, but then draws a blank when asked what he is doing to keep her safe that does not involve a gun and someone to use it on.

You'll see a father gleefully fantasize at length about murdering anyone who seems like a threat to his children, but he doesn't bother cooking for them or teaching them how to cook.

"Protect the people I love" but weirdly it's only ever imagined to involve having to shoot someone.

You'll see a guy who's spun out on paranoia fuel, freaking out at his neighbors, checking his doorbell with a gun in his hand, his wife's hypervigilant for signs of human trafficking in the Target parking lot, they're on edge for permission to be violent.

But like, their dogs aren't vaccinated.
