Reminder: All it would take to end the murder of American citizens by an untrained government goon squad is 16 Republicans in Congress voting with Dems to defund ICE (or 23 to impeach and remove Trump — 3 in House & 20 in Senate). That’s it. 23 Americans can vote for the public and end all of this.

I don’t think there was a clash though. I think people gathered there to yell at ICE and got tear gassed.
It has gotten so bad that the @nytimes.com has stopped using the passive voice to describe the violence.

- The man shot by federal agents this morning has died
- Several witnesses have already been transported to the Whipple building.
- ICE attempted to order local police from the scene, but O’Hara refused, sources said.

you don’t have to write “police involved shooting.” use english. It’s not hard

it’s easy to be angry online
I've seen this a lot and honestly, I don't care about the national politicians. Every Minnesota Democrat has explicitly supported the movement. Every one participated (Walz, I'm told, was in a church helping organize food donations, which is also the work), mostly in the streets.
Yes, and it’s amazing how little public expressions of support they get from elected officials.

I think it’s at least partly true that all the abuses and violence are meant to provoke a violent response. but I think it’s mostly just abuse and violence for its own sake

It feels sadly predictable that this government's response to massive peaceful protest would be more violence.

We’ve covered lots of losing local teams on the back page of this paper.

But none with a record as bad as the Chicago DOJ during Operation Midway Blitz:

0 convictions

11 charges dropped

3 no-billed cases

1 jury acquittal

I really am not That Guy, honest, but this protest is deliberate civil disobedience, no? blocking access to the airport? so most likely not a first amendment thing

I mean this is not a journalism show, but the french military is probably the best-equipped and most experienced in europe, they have a robust domestic defense industry (dassault, airbus, knds, etc) and of course

nuclear weapons
Rep. Greg Steube: "You see Macron and the French sending troops to Greenland. I would love to see the US military up against French troops in Greenland, because it would not last very long. It would be a very small skirmish ... we don't care about what Macron and the French want."
