So far this season, 27 percent of the ice time by Oilers forwards has been gifted to rookies or players with fewer than 20 NHL games experience. How many are flourishing? How many are getting lost in the flood?

The Oilers have played two regular season games and some interesting things are happening. Words like "suppression" and phrases like "what is Trent Frederic doing?" come to mind. Here's a first blush look at the Oilers 2025-26.

The Winnipeg Jets beat the New York Islanders 5-2 and now have a winning 2-1-0 record to start the year.

This was a particularly fun one, with depth players like Morgan Barron, Nino Niederreiter, Tanner Pearson, and Logan Stanley all scoring.

I remember reading that the reason Ross Grimsley (then of the Expos) had such a quick downward spiral was that his fastball and offspeed pitch met in the mid-80s. No idea if it was true, but he faded fast.
