To honor the winter break on the horizon, Letterboxd crew and contributors share twenty underseen holiday favorites: where Christmas and Hanukkah deep cuts and surprisingly festive noir and stop-motion delights all have a seat at the table. boxd.it/2QQ

This would be a close second for me, behind only Superman Lives (1998).

I have a list of holiday movies I would be willing to show my future kids and that is not one of them. What a truly horrifying desecration of a timeless classic of children’s literature and a perfect Christmas special!
life is long and i've seen a lot of things come and go but i will not stand for the rehabilitation of the ron howard grinch. motherfucker i was THERE in the theater. i was there

I know this is a photo of Joyce Wrigley (Judy Grafe), but on first glance, I swore it was Shirley MacLaine.

Here’s the non-scientific answer, prior to me making a list of my favourite Christmas songs.:

Christian-Either Angels We Have Heard on High or Do You Hear What I Hear?, which kind of fits in both categories.

Secular-Christmas Time Is Here-The Vince Guaraldi Trio from A Charlie Brown Christmas.
What is your favorite "Christian" Christmas song and what is your favorite "Secular" Christmas song?

I will probably always adore "O Come All Ye Faithful" and "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" for Christian.

And "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" for secular.

I came up with an idea for a horror movie called The Doll. A group of six strangers are stuck in an isolated cabin with a mysterious doll. They all think that the doll is cursed and they all go mad trying to outwit it and each other. It turns out that the doll is not cursed.

I’m attempting to relaunch the weekly recommendations series I did on the bird app. This time, it’s going to be every Wednesday, but I’ll be recommending four movies instead of the original five. So, without further ado, here is the first Bluesky iteration of #WednesdayWatches. 🎬 📀 📼

Happy 75th anniversary to the original Broadway production of Guys and Dolls! Seen here is a picture from a Summer Stock production of the musical that I was in six years ago. I’m playing Angie the Ox, the gambler in the green T-shirt. Here’s to plenty more years of crap games and Dulce de Leches!

Rewatching All That Heaven Allows (1955) after recording it from the @tcmtv.bsky.social airing yesterday, and I’m struck by how much Douglas Sirk’s real life mirrored the melodrama of his films.

I wish that I could find older issues of Entertainment Weekly at local thrift stores for the covers alone. This is art!
Steve Martin has had few years in his career as prolific as 1991 when he had starring roles in three releases: L.A. STORY, FATHER OF THE BRIDE and GRAND CANYON.

Denholm Elliott is one of my favourite character actors and his appearances as Marcus Brody in this and The Last Crusade (1989) are no different.

Another upsetting passing! She was terrific in Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore (1974) and I really liked her playing Chevy Chase’s mom in Christmas Vacation (1989). Farewell Diane! You were one heck of an actress.

Started a rewatch of Wolf (1994) earlier, and it’s not a top-tier werewolf movie, but boy is it a good one. Also, what a great poster.
