"I'm brave enough to say it: Linux is good now, and if you want to feel like you actually own your PC, make 2026 the year of Linux on (your) desktop"

This is exactly opposite of being "brave". Brave is using it before everyone else also starts using it. This is just jumping on a train. Gamers suck.

I want to use my computer to accomplish things, instead of using it just for its own sake.......
I just want to live in a world where software is /finished/...

I can't stand having to change and fix stuff after every single update...

I soooo want to be an optimist about tech, but then I update my system, and fish shell gets an update (minor update according to semver they follow) that makes it so that I cannot use shell at all... completely frozen... cannot use the shell to revert the update. FUN! #Linux

Oh how the turn tables...
Cut to today and it looks like those same experts are the first in line pushing this policy of ID requirement to use the internet. And the internet is now opt-out, so good luck...
N years ago, when the internet (and mobile devices in general) was opt-in (i.e. not required), every once in a while a 'security expert' would be invited on a show to talk about internet safety, and basically every time that happened, one of the pieces of advice was "don't put your real name online"

@cloudhead.io It would be nice if radiant.computer had an RSS feed (preferably unified). Interesting project!

Like what usetrmnl.com did with their pledge to release the source code of the web app if they become insolvent, but even more "advanced".
October 27, 2025 at 7:00 PM
I'd really like to see a company (or two) make a legally binding pledge to release the source code of their software product after X years (like 5-15), or if the company ceases operations, whichever happens first. Just as an experiment!

How is it that Arch has a larger userbase than Nix and I've never seen news about Arch drama, but somehow all I hear about Nix is drama/leaks/politics/etc. What's going on?
October 2, 2025 at 9:52 AM
This is the first time ever I'm actually considering switching to Nix (or off Arch anyways...)... Latest-ish GTK update just broke my setup and I've lost days (postponing random tasks that are affected) on fixing it without any success... If I try Nix and this thing happens again, I quit computers..
