The videos circulating from Minneapolis are horrifying. Horrifying that it’s happening and horrifying that we are at the stage people are filming because they now (correctly) expect ICE agents to shoot protestors. Administration surely cannot explain this one away.

Iranians have spent years using the internet to cultivate “a reality beyond the state’s ideological strictures.” Now there are fears that even if internet services return, they will likely be under stricter state control, Nahid Siamdoust reports.
From a strategic point of view, I am not sure what this could possibly mean. The American logic re Israel is that it’s a reliable ally in a region where US interests run into problems due to unstable politics in places sometimes hostile to US. The situation in Britain and Europe is not comparable
