I think it’s a mistake to say “this is who Vance is.” That suggests there is some meaningful core to Vance, a consistent set of underlying beliefs that can be discovered.
More accurate to say that *the willingness to do this* is who Vance is. He is willing to vigorously BE whatever is rewarded.
