Yes, a tight weave with a beautiful drape. We use Dobcross shuttle looms which are power looms from the early 1900s. If you go to our website, macgeecloth.com, and click on the 'Keeping a Tradition Alive' section you can see one of them in action.
Our Canadian blanket is truely Canadian. From the sheep the wool comes from to the spinning and weaving - it's all done here. A beautiful piece to curl up with and to display. #madeincanada #weaving
Thanks for asking! It’s 3/3 twill, and extra threads for selvedge but they’re not floating; they have their own shafts (1 and 2 of 8 shafts) but they are doing a plain weave while the rest are 3/3.
It's everyone's favourite cold season once again. May we suggest you make your season a jaunty one with one of our lambswool scarves? Woven on antique shuttle looms and finished by hand. Superior quality, historical accouterment.
Our blankets are woven on antique Dobcross shuttle looms from the turn of the century. These machines create a true selvedge edge, as the threads wrap around the warp as the shuttle moves back and forth, making our blankets seamless.
