I swear I'm just gonna shadow drop this thing someday. The biggest impediment to finishing Arch Enemy has been the layout, as I tried to go full-maximalism with it, and that burned me out something fierce. Lesson learned, though.

Oh, and ICYMI, Arch Enemy is my love letter to the Nemesis system!

Lifepaths. It's always lifepaths.

Honestly, I don't know why I haven't added that to any of my games, tbh.
Hey #ttrpgCommunity!

What's a mechanic from an older #ttrpg (pre-2000s) that you wish modern games would bring back?

THAC0 need not apply. 😄

I have this unfortunate habit of working on maps for hours and hours and ending up shelving them for years. This one was meant for a pointcrawl through Fallout's Post-War Alaska, but alas, none of my friends/players were into the franchise. Now that the Amazon series is out, I might try again!

1/ This has been my biggest struggle when it comes to getting people into the hobby. Player 1 wants to be a Jedi, Player 2 wants to be a Terminator, Player 3 wants to be Mad Max and Player 4 wants to be Legolas. The first three would have a blast with AW, but they all want the "D&D experience".
Every time I say that D&D is not a game that's easy to learn, I get pushback from people who've only tried D&D, Pathfinder, and Shadowrun.

It's solidly medium crunch.

There are much better games to use as an intro and I think, if D&D weren't the gateway to the hobby, we'd have more people.
I'm not usually one for "5e is the worst thing ever", but today I facilitated a D&D club for 12-13y/o...

It really hit me how counterintuitive and confusing it is compared to nearly everything else I've ever played. The kids had no clue what was going on

I was underwhelmed by the minimalist sandbox in B2: The Keep on the Borderlands, so I made my own:
Creating a New Regional Sandbox for B2: The Keep on the Borderlands

hi #portfolioday! I'm a videogame designer from Brazil but I also work on my own #TTRPG books and art! My material is filled with references to Latin America!
Namely my solo TTRPG system, Dungeons of Galora.
I also write a lot of #mausritter adventures!

Here's the format I use for overworld encounters, personalising the specifics for each region:

Roll a d12* on each table.
If any die is a 1 or a 2, the encounter is a surprise.
If any die is a 12, the party spots the encounter from afar.
Doubles determine how many NPCs/enemies are encountered.

There's nothing that makes a setting sing like a cast of villains to set it on fire ~ But what's beneath the evil grin and immaculate costumes? Today I'm exploring (and providing some roll tables/archetypes) for making dynamic and dastardly disruptors:

The Rage Across books were super problematic (and sometimes borderline unplayable), but Rage Across New York had some interesting, out-there choices when it came to content. Gotta love how they included a pollution map with Garou glyphs, a gorgeous battle map and cutout minis!

Excellent thread. I'm on camp "random encounter + random activity" for the sake of making the world feel lived-in, but it's undeniable that random encounters that happen *to* the PCs are more engaging than those they just stumble upon (see: Prismatic Wasteland's Encounter Checklist).
A lot of people conceptualize random encounters as the party encountering the monsters, but they make more sense the other way: the monsters encounter the party.

Below is a thread on what most people get wrong about encounter activities and what there is to be done about it. (1/14)

>he laughs and says "it's a good table, sir"

This is why so many of the critiques with the system are so insidious, but it goes beyond PF2e and back to that root issue amongst the greater online RPG space:

They see firm mechanics as a safety rail for incompetence, and want to throw all GMs in the deep end to force them to swim.

I should really get around to finishing/repurposing this game sometime.

And that's a wrap for 2025.

Through all the highs and lows, we made it. We're still here. That's a pretty big achievement, and one I'm quite proud of.

May 2026 be the year where we all achieve our goals, big and small.

We're gonna crush it, y'all.

Kind of relevant, but I actually wrote an OSR-oriented blog post about incentives a little over a year ago: onezerogames.blogspot.com/2024/12/on-e...

Looking down on incentives is a great way of making it clear that you don't *get* the games you've been playing (and presumably reading) at all.

In the meantime, you should check out mouth brood by Amanda Lee franck! It’s a sci-fi module where the players study / capture animals and plants. The ecosystem is half the zine!

I have a physical version, where the dust jacket is the map. It’s cool. www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/3...

December was a LOT, but I still managed to put the finishing touches on the PT-BR translation for one of my favourite games ever, the Codex Gold version of Trophy Gold!
It's out now on my Ko-Fi, free of charge, and it includes printer-friendly versions of the rulebook and all the character sheets.

Spent Christmas Eve doing some heavy duty cleaning with my partner, as it'd been weeks since we'd had enough time for that. December is ROUGH, y'all. Still, any time with my partner is quality time.

The whole "non-binary 2D" controversy in the Gorillaz fandom is baffling to me. I already considered 2D an Enby icon waaay before Damon said anything. Hell, they're my second most-used avatar for a reason. Just *look* at them, y'know?

I had the chance to binge the series IT: Welcome to Derry while visiting my parents and I really enjoyed it. The main positives were the acting
(especially the children), the inventive horror imagery, the story’s emotional core, and the period sets and costumes.

Just found out about this, and I can't even express how much this means to me. I've been a huge fan of Diogo's work ever since stumbled upon Sharp Swords & Sinister Spells a few years ago, and he's been a HUGE influence on my own games. White Wolf's future couldn't be in better hands! LATAM pride!!
So this happened…

I am White Wolf’s new Lead Game Designer!

I will figure out how to post the whole text here, but there is a picture with the announcement and the alt text has the full thing!

Kinda loved Avatar: Fire and Ash, tbh. It's pure spectacle and flows at a breakneck pace with barely a moment to breathe, but that's what makes those small moments of relief so enjoyable. It feels like James Cameron is channeling something very close to The Empire Strikes Back, and it *works*. B+!
