They’re calling it Jia Zhangke Tourism folks, and it’s a winner.
A frame from ‘The World’ (2004, Jia Zhangke). The same spot photographed by me.

I’m starting to get the hang of using a long lens although I’m not quite where I want to be with it yet.
A man leaning on a rail and looking pensive. A man pouring ingredients into a cooker on the street. A worker taking a cigarette break. A woman in traditional dress showing a friend something on her phone.

I admire some of Tarantino’s films but this is surely one of the most moronic things he’s ever said.
‘“David Lynch had disappeared so far up his own ass that that I have no desire to see another David Lynch movie until I hear something different,” Tarantino famously commented, in a scathing diatribe against Lynch’s latest project at the time. That project was none other than his 1992 surreal film Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me.’

I was lucky enough to catch ‘Fire Walk With Me’ in 4K at the China Film Archive. Only Lynch could imbue such a black hole of suffering with such empathy. An extraordinary picture.
My ticket for ‘Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me’ (1992, David Lynch).
