Chicago Christkindlmarkt update: Due to severe overcrowding in past years, OEMC has reduced entrance capacity 80% (!!) from 5,000 to 1,000 people. This has caused very long lines and a deserted feel once you got in. 🧵

Considering that horses are dangerous and riders are very regularly seriously injured, I wonder what the direct overall injury/death rate looked like when everyone in our society had to constantly ride/drive horses, versus the injury/death rate from cars today?

Cash really sucks to handle, easy to steal, easy to lose, easy to miscount. You’d be surprised how much of the money received in cash is spent on handling it
One of the most human things about NYC is that there are so many cash-only businesses, & businesses that give a discount if you pay in cash. Unlike in Seattle, where so many businesses don’t allow cash payment at all (or tips), & they act like somehow these exclusionary policies are progressive.

Is it good when your most important regional express trains are all around 50% punctual. Oh Germany, it is very sad how the railways have collapsed since Covid
Ich hab mal die Pünktlichkeit der wichtigsten Regional-Express-Linien in Nordrhein-Westfalen aus dem SPNV-Qualitätsmonitor gezogen und über die Jahre dargestellt. Schwellenwert ist in NRW übrigens 3:59 Minuten, ab wann ein Zug als unpünktlich gilt.
