What radicalized me? Nothing. I was taught to be kind and empathetic towards others because what happens to others, whether it affects
me personally, affects society as a whole.

The real question is, what caused my activism?

themselves don’t know their own history. We’ve been constantly told we would be accepted as long as we Americanized, be white passing, and for some reason we believed, and continue to believe it. The Spanish Casta System split us by color and created colorism that persists in the Latino community.

I’m not going to say that Mexican Americans have had the exact same experiences and Black Americans, but to sit and say we haven’t dealt with lynchings, eugenics, forced sterilizations, and mass deportations goes to show people don’t know our history. Difference is, Mexican Americans… 1/2
