Now that I take both pole dance and aerial hoop classes, my favourite thing is showing people the huge bruises on my arms and telling them about how the bruises on my legs hurt so much that I can barely walk — and then say ”It’s sooo much fun, you should try it!” They always look so horrified 😂

I know we probably should be wary of the increasing gamification of our hobbies, but watching numbers go up sure helps my motivation! I’ve been trying to fight off reading slumps since high school and #StoryGraph is helping. And as a bonus I’m reading so many good books and feeling way happier! 📚💙

I’m speechless. I let him add me on Snapchat, but unfriended him after I politely told him I wasn’t interested (and venmoed him for a beer he bought me). It’s 11.30 pm on a Monday and this 30 y/o man just sent me another friend request. A month later. How am I STILL living in his head rent free?!
I’ve been texting with a guy I matched with on Tinder for a few weeks. Seemed kind and genuine, asked questions, good-looking. We finally met up on a date. Then he said that he doesn’t vote in elections, and I don’t think I’ve ever gotten turned off by anything so fast.

I’m rereading #Babel and tried to look up if R.F. Kuang has ever explicitly answered whether Robin is gay or bi. Instead, I found several people saying they didn’t pick up on him being either. I don’t understand. How can so many people miss a whole subplot?? The hints literally start in chapter 3!

It’s probably because — and I’m gonna take a wild guess here — Focus Friend is a better product, with better impact on the world than anything Musk will ever make.

I have now watched multiple people play the #DateEverything game and NOT A SINGLE ONE has commented on the line ”Bye, Phoenicia!” during the tutorial. It’s even said exactly like ”Bye, Felicia!” How can you not at least chuckle at the fact that they put that in there??

Can we acknowledge that the best thing about every edition of #Taskmaster is the assistant? Alex Horne, Paul Williams, Tom Cashman, David Sundin… In every edition I’ve watched, their mannerisms, comedic timing and ability to put up with anything while fighting to keep a straight face is hilarious 😂

The fact that I’m sick right now and my brain was like ”well, you don’t have enough energy to focus on a fantasy book at the moment, so you should just read a book about astrophysics instead” probably says something about me, though I’m not entirely sure what

Now that the idea has entered my brain, if we do get a new Twilight book for the anniversary this year about Jacob and the literal baby he imprinted on and their child is not named Billward or Sarabella, I will riot.

We say the same thing in Swedish! It’s ”förstå”, from the German ”verstehen“. The direct translation would be ”stand for”, but from what I’ve read it’s distantly related to the English ”understand” (where ”för-”, ”ver-” and ”under-” all mean ”among” in this context).
"Understanding" is a pretty beautiful compound word...in this case "under" has a somewhat archaic meaning of "among" (also still present in "under these circumstances.")
So understanding is "Standing among" as-in a mind that figuratively shares space with the concepts in question.

Every time I visit a country with any kind of tipping culture, I’m reminded of how much I hate it. Maybe it’s a hot take, but I think every job in all countries should pay a living wage and tipping should be an incredibly rare happy surprise if a customer is feeling generous.

Young men who use words like ”shrieks” and ”nags” when talking about a woman simply sharing her experiences and opinions break my heart 😔 It hurts that women in 2025 still get dismissed and belittled if we show any kind of emotion about things that concern and/or upset us.
