Also good advice. If you encounter an issue always start by assessing the aspects you personally can control. First question: is it me? If it isn't that, then look at external factors. No point starting with the externals.

Is that really what you heard in that? Did you miss the word 'first'? There are millions of reasons, but you start by checking if its something you can easily fix is great advice for approaching any problem.

If you're cold, first check the windows are shut. Its just common sense, not an accusation!

Men: if you haven't had sex with your wife for a while, first check that you don't need to take something off her plate. It's hard to be turned on when you're basically someone's mum or maid rather than equal partner.

good education and opportunities.

All that being said, as a woman, this is proper gross. Its so weird and wrong to hear anyone talk about me like this (even if some of it was right - I've fallen for the fuckboi, chased him, then been disappointed).

Also, who says women want a man who is better?

develop a way to capture these people and bring them into a more sensible and grounded space for more useful and realistic applications of their critical thinking skills. Like inviting graffiti artists to study art. Or talent shows that give you vocal training if you win.

We can solve this with

incorrect uses of assumptions and language.

If this guy was talking about why men who write romances get it wrong he would be pretty spot on. What he is missing is the ability to understand that these narrative tropes are not real life.

Ideally to combat this nonsense we as a society would

If these people had had a liberal arts education and had these critical thinking skills channelled into healthy spaces they could go far. But our society is suppressing these people and so they find themselves in these weird underworlds where their critical thinking can only be used on harmful,

I've noticed this with a fair bit of conspiracy theory material - paranormal stuff, UFOs, flat earth, big foot, even vaccines - there are people out there who are naturally curious and natural problem solvers who a few hundred years ago could have been writing ground breaking theses.

If it was attempting to explain why PUAs and being a fuckboi won't help you find a relationship then with different language it isn't bad either. Like - being a fuckboi is generally pretty bad. Where it goes really wrong is in conflating tropes with real life and starting with a false premise.

Ok, so I watched most of it and whats fascinating is the 'citizen scientist' aspect of this. If this were an academic analysis of tropes in romance films/novels it actually wouldn't be a bad analysis. If this were evolutionary biology it wouldn't get a high grade, but isn't a bad stab.

Thanks for the speedy response! It matters to some people which is why MENSA exists. I have a MENSA level IQ but all that means is that I have a MENSA level IQ. Its like being a chess master or tennis pro. Its not transferrable to other contexts...

It is, but sometimes you're looking for something new. I had the same with all the films called 'Relic'. And the films where you have to be quiet...

I find the simplest thing is to replace 'mental health' with 'diabetes' or 'broken leg' or 'peneumonia'. We don't see insulin as a moral failing. No one thinks less of you for taking painkillers for a broken bone. Its medicine for being ill, just like antibiotics.

Visited the Viking village in Gudvangen and the tour guide was so lovely and so chill while also knowing an inordinate amount about textile dying... a little kid was fascinated!

Was telling the vet how I had to give Finbar churros (with Spanish pronunciation) to get him to take his medicine. Took a few moments for her to realise I meant churu as we usually call them 'licky sticks'. As if I was frying dough for my spoiled cat...

He's got another three years. On his current rate of 7 wars stopped a year, if he got the Nobel now, what would he get for stopping another 21 wars?

Although as it would probably mean him starting 21 wars...

And yet probably the least racist approach to a POC. As it goes, for the period, ACD is pretty progressive, but still a loooooong way from how we'd consider these issues.

But our wanklords are the spawn of Trump. We have to keep an eye on him so we know what we have coming! Sadly!
