It’s a tough time and easy to feel helpless. That makes it more important to take advantage of our voices and votes when we can. Let’s use them this November. 4/4

This is a rare chance to affect change in an off-year election. This vote affects not only our wallets but our environment. The PSC makes decisions regarding Georgia’s use of renewable energy and determines regulations for data centers, many of which are springing up to power AI software. 3/

The PSC has 5 seats—all held by Republicans. Some accepted money from the very companies they’re elected to regulate.

With only 2 seats up, Republicans can’t lose the majority. But Georgians can elect some dissent, some diversity of viewpoints, & lay the foundation to flip the PSC in the future. 2/

One thing about me, I’m going to write a serious review about a silly superhero movie. #thunderbolts #newavengers

The cool thing about those “unalienable rights” is that they are just that—unalienable. Natural rights have no borders. Government cannot grant them; it can only protect or restrict them. Don’t stand for their violation anywhere or for anyone. If it is your right, it is everyone’s right.

A few weeks ago, AmeriCorps was gutted by DOGE. Essential community groups that depend on AmeriCorps support will suffer, and many will shutter completely. Americans will be worse off for it.

I don’t understand how any of this makes America great. 2/2

Here’s me in 2014 training to become an @americorps.bsky.social VISTA. I volunteered with Grow Appalachia, an organization that helps people get the resources and training necessary to grow their own food. The stipend I received was the only reason I was able to be part of this important work. 1/

No Other Land has won this year's Oscar for best documentary. This is a big deal.

Despite being worthy of an Oscar, the film has NOT been able to find distribution in the US because it's about the forced displacement of Palestinians from their homes by Israel.

A 90s and 00s icon—from Harriet the Spy to Buffy. Supremely bummed out. May her memory be a blessing.

So have all those supposedly Constitution-loving conservatives given up on the separation of powers? Because with Trump’s EOs reversing Congress’ laws and his threats to interfere with the Judiciary for checking him, we’re quickly becoming a one-branch government.

My sign (I am not a calligrapher 😆) for today’s protest at the Richmond County Courthouse in Augusta, Georgia, as part of the “50 States, 50 Protests, 1 Day” movement. #augustageorgia #resist

For most white Americans the immigration “process” was (maybe) buying ship fare and (maybe) getting checked for tuberculosis at Ellis Island. Little to no paperwork, identification, or waiting. We came to a land that wasn’t our own, prospered, and then closed the door behind us. #nopersonisillegal

Anyone ever have to do that walk of shame on your way to the library where you tell yourself, “It’s okay that I put 20 books about ancient Mesoamerican societies on hold. It’s not too much, and they’re not going to judge me for it.” Anyone?

I’ve been wondering why I’m so skeptical of and unimpressed with AI. I realize it’s because no AI is as compelling as Data. What AI worth its salt learns about humanity and doesn’t then want to act out Sherlock stories, play violin, waltz, and learn about the magic of friendship?
