now look it is quite a terrible film, everyone agrees, and I'm sure the ratings on rotten tomatoes are through the floor, but Devil's Advocate, with Pacino, owning it and Keanu, really not knowing his lines, or how to act at all, is really quite the thing..

saying to someone earlier, watching modern warfare films Blackhawk, Hurt Locker, Zero Dark, they all have a common thread, as do many older ones, how foreign policy (US often) is utterly misguided and soldiers end up as cannon fodder - these all happened when I was producing news...so I'm invested.

years ago I used to swim at the AIS in Canberra, when our Olympic swimmers were the best of the best (still are), I saw them all - this morning at the pool, there was a young woman a couple of lanes away, swimming just like that, effortless, elegant, laps at 35-40 secs, poetry in motion...had to be.
