I feel like I need a GM screen that just has the message "ask for fewer rolls" plastered all over it.

Oohhh, my Crooked Moon book arrived! I can already tell this is going to be a book I crack open constantly to launch myself into one of my favorite headspaces: spooky forests for TTRPGs.

It's always so exciting to see people playing an adventure I wrote!! Check out @riseheroesrise.bsky.social playing the Draw Steel adventure, The Great Thaw of Gryzmithrak Spire!

Oops, I got a little too lost in the D&D worldbuilding sauce for this desert adventure.

It's been too much fun fusing environmental science shenanigans with fantasy nonsense, though. I took black lung and asked the question: what if they inhaled glowing dust falling from a crack in the sky instead?

One of the stretch goals we didn't get to with Tome of Intangible Treasures II was a companion adventure inspired by its Ritual system. Well, I'm doing it anyway in collaboration with Andie of @margomods.bsky.social and Iris from @greengobletgames.bsky.social!

Cool, cool. I spent 30* (THIRTY!!**) minutes answering emails today. I can take the rest of the day off, right?

*yes, this isn't very much time at all
**but consider this: it FEELS like an eternity!

Hey, thanks so much! I put a lot of love and labor into my layout design, so I'm really happy to hear that it's paying off :)

Sure, how about you send me a Bluesky DM?

I was nodding along to James Introcaso on YouTube as he listed off classic antagonists in upcoming Draw Steel adventures... until he said one of them takes you to the SUN?

I mean.. yes, some GMs want to throw their players into the sun, but I don't think they meant it like that! I can't wait 👀

Yup, this was a two person project and we set the target pretty low! The game wasn't even officially out yet and we wanted to fund the art and get it out there for people to play :)

In today's D&D writing fugue, I made a casual reference to plato's cave to fuel some cosmic horror with a lonely god on the underside of reality. I'd say today's going pretty well!
margomods.bsky.social
Thanks for the boost! I'm happy to hear you're having fun with the adventure :)

Cover of The Great Thaw of Gryzmithrak Spire, an independent Draw Steel adventure.

The dragon, Ahskoor'ka breathes out a torrent of fire as she destroys her icy prison. The bright orange fire spilling from her mouth and her bright red scales stand in contrast to the glowing turqoise ice melting behind her.

Many TTRPG books have great sections of useful tidbits* like Fabula Ultima's quick breakdown of high/techno/natural fantasy genres or Daggerheart's long term campaign A/B/C plot overview.

I CRAVE MORE!**

*usually found in intro sections
**somebody make a "The Quintessential TTRPG Textbook" please

Who are your favorite adventure writers? What’s your favorite (released in the last 5 years) adventure? Any system.
margomods.bsky.social
I think it's more your personality than any specific character I'm imagining, but you bring wizard vibes to the table in the best way possible.

AKA you've studied systems enough to know your shit and use it for table magic :)

I'm so deep in Daggerheart and writing that I don't know when I'll have time to run (or play?) a Crooked Moon adventure/campaign... but from what I saw in the pdfs they sent to backers, the book rules.

I love the vibe, and especially love the narrative weaknesses/secrets built into the monsters.

Cafes for working are best when they are so loud that others' conversations sound like background noise in the SIMS

Unfortunately, I can hear every word of this academic planning meeting... It's been a while since I've been hit by this many drive-by academic-land catchphrases. I don't miss it.
