I remember getting in huge trouble as a child when I tried to express my great love for my Granny and the way it felt to be snuggled on her lap. I told her she was fat and in that word I meant wonderful, comforting, the very best and my mother scolded me and sent me to my room. Fat is love to kids.

I'm looking for a flash fiction piece published in a journal -- I don't remember where, or who, or even the title -- but it's about a mother whose daughter has become a vampire or a zombie and the mother is helping the daughter, at great risk to herself -- does this sound familiar to anyone?

It's interesting that some of the downtown businesses who believe they don't have shoppers because of unhoused people don't understand that they have lost shoppers (me, and my friends) because those businesses support criminalization of homelessness. We shop and eat at the other places often.
