I recently listened to Scalzi’s new book The Shattering Peace and enjoyed it a lot. Set after The Old Man’s War, it’s more serious than some of his other works. Don’t tell anybody but I think Scalzi might be romantic. I enjoy the straightforward romantic subplots of his novels so much.

If you’re a veteran, how would you prefer Veterans Day be aknowledged by your friends and family. Is, “thank you for your service,” good, or is it cringy and meaningless?

The world is falling apart and my small personal tragedy is ridiculously small and personal but my favorite handmade mug just broke and I have some extra sads that feel bigger than they have any right to.

Friday! The evening I don’t have anything planned and can actually make it to the gym for cardio. If you’re going to crave something, cardio seems pretty good.

Today in Biology I went to ask a student to stop reading a book while we were watching a video about cellular respiration only to find she was reading Babel by RF Kuang and accidentally fangirled instead.

Last week my ninth graders told me I’m too cool to make, “six, seven,” uncool. Today week an AP kid told me I’m actually kind of funny. It was a rough day in other ways but I guess I’m doing well, after all.
