For the first time since 2020, emissions from the building sector have stopped rising. This is excellent news, but there is still work to be done.

Learn more in the newly released Global Status Report for Buildings and Construction: www.unep.org/news-and-sto...

#BuildforClimate
A construction crane stands tall against a cityscape at dusk. White text over the image states: "The buildings and construction sector is responsible for over 1/3 of global greenhouse gas emissions." Logos of the UN Environment Programme and the Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction appear at the bottom.

With one day left at #COP29, our Executive Director @marinaromanello.bsky.social describes the importance of health-centred climate action.

Our evidence shows people around the world are facing record-breaking health threats from climate change. A healthy future requires ambitious action.

While COP29 ended with grossly insufficient financial commitments, Lancet Countdown shows countries had no problem in finding US$ 1.4 trillion to subsidise fossil fuels in 2022 alone. Taking externalities into account they rise to 7trillion
Time to redirect funds towards a healthy, equitable future

Hi Friends!

Getting started on Bsky as my new-COP-cycle resolution. While I wouldn't want to encourage a more siloed conversation, I hope the discussion can be more constructive here (and contribute less to a company whose values I don't share).

That said, anyone else overwhelmed by social media?
