Another plug for my paper on *why multiculturalism is good for women* (which is also the title). It is open access in a very nice interdiciplinary journal Ethnicities that combines normative and empirical work on ethnicity and politics.
Here is another foray into political philosophy. I argue that because gender identity and hierarchies are fundamentally cultural, so is gender emancipation and equality. And since not all girls, women and non-binary belong to majorities, multiculturalism is good for women.

Fascinating to think about the longterm consequences of this for social science. Might it lead to a reversal of the 'empirical turn' in economics and return to theory? A growth in popularity of in person qualitative research? Prioritisation of objective indicators in quant work?
new paper by Sean Westwood:

With current technology, it is impossible to tell whether survey respondents are real or bots. Among other things, makes it easy for bad actors to manipulate outcomes. No good news here for the future of online-based survey research

Yes, the media and world is paying far too much attention to the Trump-Epstein affair (and far too little on doing something about Sudan & climate change) BUT these women are still brave stepping forward and sending a strong message to those with power who think they live with impunity.
NEW: Epstein survivors release the most powerful PSA I have ever seen.

Make this go viral so every member of the House of Representatives sees it.

Just read Urtes fascinating and cautionary tale of the nasogenital cure. Especially for those of us with a penchant for nasal theories of... most everything.
Consider reading my new piece on the history and science of the nasogenital cure! Incidentally, that's not exactly what the theory was and not quite what the episode reveals. Bizarre tales sound rather less bizarre in context - possibly, our own tales in our own context, too.
One woman’s nose and two men’s hubris and a bizarre tale of 19th century science gone wrong. This nasogenital theory tried to link nasal shape to sexual health and reveals how medicine can be shaped more by bias than fact buff.ly/TwZjyJ6

Universities have existed for more than a thousand years — and for almost all of that time, they weren’t centers of research. What changed in 19th century Germany?
