The summer is over - and for about 16,600 people across 854 European cities that doesn't mean autumn comes, but death. People who would still be alive if it wasn't for our burning of fossil fuels. - New study with @lshtm.bsky.social www.imperial.ac.uk/grantham/pub...

The Trump group of five climate contrarians that authored the deeply flawed, heavily criticized DoE report questioning the severity of climate change has been dissolved. The legality of the group had been challenged as a violation of the Federal Advisory Committee Act.

Heat & very dry air that used to be rare, now very common in Spain & Portugal, putting huge strain on EU firefighting resources - at 1.3C global warming. Every additional ton of fossil fuels burnt will make European summers even more deadly & dangerous www.worldweatherattribution.org/extreme-fire...

I cannot tell you how many capitalist climate people came after me when I warned against assuming we could reverse overshoot of 1.5C w carbon removal.

Well. It turns out that the maximum possible temperature reversal might be as little as 0.7C.

End fossil fuels now.

NEW STUDY: How much CO2 can we safely store in geological formations?

In a new @nature.com study, we cross-check established academic and industry estimates with various risk factors.

We find a prudent geological CO2 storage limit that is about 10x smaller. /1

My first comment piece in @theguardian.com is on a topic very close to my heart; the threat that the #ClimateCrisis poses to my local community in South Wales.

Here's a thread with a few extra thoughts from me 🧵

Great video, in which Dave Borlace uses @doctorvive.bsky.social's excellent book on the language of #climate politics to debunk the Trump administration's talking points...

This is the "Oil Rig Graveyard" at Cromarty Firth in Scotland. Fossil fuel firms want my picture hidden as it shows the mess they leave behind that none of them want to pay to clean up, not to mention their damaging impact on your climate.
