Very sad I didn't get tickets for Lily Allen in Sheffield 😭
That sounds absolutely delicious! A bit of red onion chutney could be a happy compromise maybe?
I know, I know. I am yet to ask if they would allow me both. I am also yet to ask myself I would want both? There are lessons to be learned from Icarus for sure.
My life is such, that hand on heart, the biggest news I have is that I've changed my usual cob order at The Alex in Derby from cheese and onion to cheese and pickle.
I don't know who needs to hear this, but if you're not selling enough cask beer, then take lines off! It's better to pace through a small selection in great condition than to try and soldier on with a load of beers that have seen better days.
I was typing up a blog post this morning when I found myself searching for a collective noun for a group of regulars in a pub.

I settled on an installation. Would anyone else like to put forward a suggestion?
My favourite part of this was reading each individual section and seeing how quickly I could guess which author it was. @rachelhendry.bsky.social we clearly spend too much time together because I got both of yours at the start of the second sentence 😂
Thanks so much Pete, those are very kind words 💜

I sent out my last ever j'adore le plonk on Friday. In memoriam I've turned it into a zine with the help of my friends @helenannesmith.bsky.social Otto Taylor-Rickard and @gergemanson.bsky.social I think we've made something very beautiful - pre order's are now live!

Resharing this for the Monday crowd. I'm really pleased with this piece of writing. Any shares/reposts are appreciated xo
📢 NEW BLOG POST

Very overdue return for my personal blog.

An exploration of identity and the struggle to hold onto a sense of self when hospitality work requires that you spend a large part of your life shifting your persona to suit the needs of the customer.

Don’t Look Down
When your work demands that you shift between several different versions of yourself every day, how do you remember which version is really you when it comes to spending time away from the bar?

I know I've banged this drum a million times, but The Last Time I Saw Richard is one of the most perfect and beautiful songs ever written.
In my happy place (in the bath, drinking red wine, and listening to Joni Mitchell)

Long time delayed book and pint! I've actually just finished the book, which I would massively recommend to anyone and everyone. It is a beautiful story of reverence and the value we ascribe to ordinary items.
Ok, but why am I low-key obsessed with Lily Allen's new album.
My favourite regulars have made me pistachio and cherry amaretti and my hangover has been cured by kindness and sweet treats 💚
I somehow managed to drink every beer that was on last night and both cocktails/shandies.

I have felt better.
When you host a dark beer event and commit to the bit a little too hard 🖤
I have received far too many compliments tonight about my dyed black hair. I was already very close to entering a second emo phase, and I am being tempted to tip into it.

putting on sparkly nail varnish before having to do a full line clean and keg change was a pointless endeavour, wasn't it.

I am too glam for this industry I stg.
In case you don't already have enough reason to come, I made imperial stout brownies using Bellwoods' I'm Not Dead 😏
Very excited for our Donnie's and Dark Beer Event tomorrow. Such a fun variety of styles, really showcasing the versatility of the darker side of beer.
