Time to glue parts together starting with the engines. I first needed to thread through the wires for the running lights. Then I soldered red and green lighting 2mm tower LEDs in place. They’re clear when unlit. I did this for maximum brightness. Clear paint blocks some light.

#SNW Four and a Half Vulcans polarized fans before it even aired. We compare its views on genetic determinism and multi cultural heritage to that of the Superman franchise. Who does the “torn between two worlds” theme better?

An AI system that’s completely biased and hallucinates enemies because it’s based on the skewed world view of a mentally unhinged tech bro who peaked in his 20s? Sounds about right.

Seems like there’s a lot of Discovery nostalgia going around lately. Its amazing how much the show evolved in five seasons. I made this a few weeks after the premier eight years ago. I miss those opening credits…

Spoiler: he hates that Picard, Riker, and Data didn’t have the same banter as Kirk, Spock and McCoy. But they did. At least in s01, and especially in s02. We‘ve just sort of erased that from our memory. Gene liked playful antagonism and @melindas.bsky.social wrote TNG dialogue better than anyone.
The man behind Star Trek: The Next Generation's Commander Riker didn't love one thing about his popular Star Trek spinoff. Find out what it was.

#SNW documentary style episode “What is Starfleet” is less Ken Burns and more Project Veritas. We talk its journalistic merits as well as what side of a conflict should be scrutinize more. Then our discussion of the 2025 film Weapons goes from addiction to school shootings to… the housing crisis?

Kirk and Picard need to be switched on the Nerd/Jock axis. Picard won all the runner’s medals, played pool, and started fights in bars. Kirk was a book worm who played chess, was considered grimly serious, and was regularly harassed by a bully.
I came with this at 3 am while feverish.

I will not be answering any questions.

I love these renders of that early TNG bridge concept by Tadeo D'Oria. @rekkert.mastodon.social.ap.brid.gy

This style of bridge also featured in the “The Word of God” webcomic by @mark2000.bsky.social and @ryanthomasriddle.com

These ‘roads not taken’ designs are always so fascinating to me. /2

Our latest episode tries to figure out what “empathy for the enemy“ means for Captain Pike in the best JT Kirk story since TOS in #SNW “The Sehlat Who Ate its Tail”. Then it’s erotic ghost story time as Beverly Crusher explores being an spectrosexual in TNG’s classic bodice ripping romp, Sub Rosa!

TK Bellows wears an interesting and anachronistic pair of glasses in “A Space Adventure Hour”. They’re S9 frames, also known as “birth control frames”. From 1990 to 2012 they were standard military issue to navy and army recruits. Saddam Hussein was given a pair when he was captured in 2003.

Here's something I noticed on my rewatch of "Shuttle to Kenfori". The Klingon transmission ↖️ uses and old fan made alphabet created by Geoffrey Mandel for the "U.S.S. Enterprise Officer's Manual" published in 1980 ↗️ instead of "pIqaD"↙️ which has been the official Klingon alphabet since TMP.↘️

For some reason #SNW “Through the Lens of Time“ gave us the giggles. Is Roger Korby the worst archeologist ever? Is Ensign Gamble the ultimate rookie cop? After we contain ourselves we talk about Star Trek as a genre leaping format and if Strange New Worlds has been succeeding at that tradition.
