Labour MP for Gateshead Central and Whickham.

Post delays in Gateshead and Whickham are a total disgrace. NHS appointments missed. Bank cards not turning up.

It’s time for Royal Mail to pull their finger out and get it sorted.

I’m meeting the Mail minister next week to push for action on their consistent failings.

It might be a cold and wet weekend but the Labour team was out on the doors in Bensham to talk about what we’re doing for our community and plans for the future. Thanks to everyone who spoke to us and shared your views

New homes, new jobs and investment in Gateshead are top priorities for me as your MP, so it was great to visit MGM and HUSK on the Team Valley today to talk about the new, innovative homes they’re building in Gateshead this year.

Keep an eye out for them in Beacon Lough in the next few months

Me and Ben have known each other as long either of us can remember. We grew up together. We went to Gateshead schools together. We’ve been mates for almost four decades.

Tonight we were both invited to Downing Street to celebrate the work we’d done on the Employment Rights Act. A special evening.

From April an additional 32,000 dads per year will be able to access Paternity Leave immediately.

That’s the difference a Labour Government makes.

This, is a proper fry up. Always great to be at the Cafe Under The Spire for a proper lunch on a cold day. If you haven’t been yet, get yourself along it’s so good

❄️⚠️ Cold weather payments have been triggered here in Gateshead Central and Whickham.

To trigger the payments, the average temperature at a specified weather station must be recorded as, or forecast to be, 0°C or below for seven consecutive days.

The verdict is in. Scrapping the two-child limit will make a huge impact on Labour's plan to tackle child poverty. In the North East alone 67,000 children will be helped. 3,400 children in Gateshead will be lifted out of poverty.

The Tories’ Shadow Attorney General, Lord Wolfson, is representing Roman Abramovich in a legal case that is delaying the transfer of £2.5bn of assets to benefit the people of Ukraine.

I’ve written to Kemi Badenoch about the conflicts of interest this raises. 👇

This was a true Labour Budget, built on our shared values of fairness and social justice.

Tackling child poverty is at the heart of Labour's plan for change. That's why we've scrapped the two-child limit, impacting 3,410 children in Gateshead Central & Whickham.

👏🏻 Congratulations to Victoria & the team - local business, police, community & voluntary sector & council - on securing the Purple Flag award.

There's SO much more to do, but with the demolition of Computer House, then the flyover, the town centre will start to see real change in 2026 🏗️

*Beacon Lough & Wrekenton*

You have so many ideas of how to spend the £20 million Pride in Place funding.

The good news is it's up to you - not politicians or civil servants in London - to make your own decisions!

I loved spending the morning at Larkspur House listening to your ideas.
