Reminder ahead of this weekend's frigid temperatures...

NYC used to consistently build 5-10 new subway stations every single year.

Since 1990 we have built 4. Not 4 per year, 4 total over 36 years.

We need to get back to building transit on a grand scale. This is what our system could look like:

NYC's pension system is a significant shareholder in Palantir. We are using that leverage.

I have made a formal request for the company to secure a third-party assessment of the legal, reputational, civil-rights & human-rights risks associated with their work with ICE.
NYC invests in firm that helps ICE deport people. The city comptroller is concerned.
City Comptroller Mark Levine is pressing for an inquiry into Palantir Technologies, citing human rights concerns.

It's Int'l Holocaust Remembrance Day

And yet, in America:

41% can’t identify Auschwitz

45% can’t name a single concentration camp

32% believe fewer than 2 million Jews were murdered

Antisemitism rises amid ignorance. The cause of Holocaust education is more urgent than ever.

Live view of how recently streets have been plowed across NYC.

Green = within past hour. Blue = within 1-3 hours.

This is thanks to the extraordinary efforts of @nycsanitation.bsky.social workers driving 2,000+ plows.

Another horrifying death at the hands of ICE.

This is not an unforeseen tragedy.

This is the PREDICTABLE result of sending 1000s of unaccountable, poorly trained, masked federal agents into an American city.

Those who made this possible must answer for what followed.

NWS is out with updated forecast for tomorrow’s storm in NYC:

* 10-14 in. accumulation of snow & sleet
* 2 in./hr at peak, with near whiteout conditions
* Wind chill down to 2 degrees overnight
* Wind gusts up to 35 mph

This will be serious. Plan to avoid travel tomorrow if at all possible.

Huge announcement from Gov. Hochul:

Next phase of 2nd Av subway expansion would cross west on 125th St all the way to Broadway, connecting to busy stations on the 2/3, A/B/C/D, and 1 lines.

This would provide much needed crosstown access for 100s of thousands of uptown residents. Truly exciting.

"NYS Dept of Health & NYC Health Dept reject all recent and unilateral changes to the CDC immunization schedule."

This letter just went all to all medical providers in NYC. It sends an unambiguous message: Do not change your prior immunization practices.

I am absolutely horrified by the videos of the ICE shooting.

This is an unaccountable, vastly over-resourced agency that is unambiguously making us less safe. And now today a 6-year old child became an orphan. This is sickening and it has to stop.

Where the hell is congress??
January 3, 2026 at 4:11 PM
We were told the boat killings were about drugs, not regime change.

We were told a land invasion of Venezuela would require congressional authorization.

We were told the U.S. would not be starting wars.

All lies.

NY's bad flu season is getting worse.

Last week there were 4,546 hospitalizations—most ever recorded in a single week.

This is happening at time when flu vaccination rates are down.

It's not too late to get your flu vax this season. Find a provider in NYC here: on.nyc.gov/getvaccinated.

I've worked closely w/ Kamar throughout his tenure as supt. of D3.

In the face of a long series of challenges in the district—changes in admission standards, school consolidations etc—he's consistently led with compassion, principle & nuance.

He's truly an outstanding choice to lead DOE citywide.

NY is having a bad flu season. More hospitalizations last week than any week on record.

Health authorities are encouraging everyone aged 6mo+ to get the flu vax (it's not too late).

Find a provider here: on.nyc.gov/getvaccinated. You can filter for sites where there's no cost for the uninsured.
