Interesting: I am hearing both inside Meta and inside Google AI coding models simply don't work nearly as well as they do outside:

Models work great on greenfield projects and when using standard tooling.

Both Meta and Google have monoliths and non-standard tooling!

logging into bluesky is starting to feel almost quaint, a different universe where AI is at least a year behind the reality or something. meanwhile my twitter timeline and circles are full of opus 4.5, nano banana pro and so on

tedium is such a time waste that llms have resolved
Importantly, the deep thinking did not go away -- most of the tedium did. It's not perfect in many ways but it's incredibly effective already

I've seen teams burn out maintaining Kubernetes for 500 users.

3 microservices. 40 hours/week fighting YAML. Zero business value.

A $5 VPS with Docker Compose would've been fine.

Stop cosplaying as Google and ship actual features.

I have put together a (long overdue!) draft RFD on using LLMs at @oxide.computer, but I know that there is a ton more to be said on the topic; thoughts and experiences welcome!

I really dislike the comparative style of social media posts that some OSS libs will do. You shouldn't need to shit on other OSS developers' work to promote your own.

We're all in this together!

lovely little #rustlang blog post with very practical tips, recommended quick read if you didn't know about `clippy.toml` yet or maybe wasn't sure how you could use it.

Disallow code usage with a custom `clippy.toml`
I recently discovered that adding a clippy.toml file to the root of a Rust project gives the ability to disallow a method or a type when running cargo clippy...

Linus Torvalds is ""fairly positive" about vibe coding, but as a way into computing, not for production coding where it would likely be horrible to maintain."

#claude is really good but it's starting to creep me out a bit. With #chatgpt it never felt like a human talking because of how impossibly obsequious it is. Claude however speaks more like it's giving it's own opinion (and it just happens to agree with you most of the time).

I love how every corporate rust adoption story is like “yeah, all of our memory safety bugs went down and our performance doubled, but the downside is that Rust PRs take half the time to merge”

I love #Linear for project management and mostly it's pretty intuitive, but I could not figure out how to make cycle stats work well until I finally read this one sentence in the docs. Could've been more obvious...

like, linguistically, shouldn't `-Z minimal-versions` be `-Z minimum-versions`? is it (a) correct and (b) appropriate to open a cargo issue for this?
