Found this baby mushroom in Ravensroost Wood, Wiltshire. The closest I could find in ID guides was Amanita echinocephala (Solitary amanita) but I’m not sure the soil there was right - not calcareous. Any thoughts folks? 🙏 #FungiFriday #FungiFriends @simon-ontheverge.bsky.social

We found this stunning Rove Beetle in Loch Ard Forest, Trossachs 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 a little while back. I think it is Staphylinus erythropterus. #InsectThursday #Beetles

Plenty of these fascinating Earth Tongues in Loch Ard Forest, Trossachs 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Apparently the little white dots are another fungus growing on them (Hypomyces papulasporae) #Fungi #FungiFriends

I think it’s the egg and larva sac of a Caddisfly, most likely Glyphotaellius pellucidus. We found several of them hanging off leaves in a wood in Wiltshire last September.

Dozens of these beautiful little mushrooms all around the car park at Loch Drunkie in the Trossachs, Scotland last week. I think they may be Blue-girdled Webcaps (Cortinarius collinitus), any thoughts #FungiFriends? Happy for confirmation or correction! #FungiFriday
