This kind of bottle-shaming is a not-so-subtle way to push women out of the workforce.

Whenever I'd watch Octonauts with the kiddo they'd always be saving some animal that looked sort of adorable, and then when they'd do the Creature Report at the end, they'd show you what it really looked like and it was something like this.
The Tasselled Wobbegong is a master of disguise that can eat a fish almost as big as itself in one gulp. It's classified as a shark, but when it lays on the sea floor it looks like a harmless rug if you manage to see it. But with powerful jaws and sharp teeth they are no fish to mess with.

I know Stranger Things has gotten the youngs to start listening to Tiffany, but can I leverage that to get the 10yo into Tommy James and the Shondells? 🤔

You are ABSOLUTELY NOT going to regret listening to this bird:
A male rock ptarmigan (Lagopus muta) in winter plumage.

Ptarmigan is from Gaelic 'tarmachan' meaning "croaker". The p- was added when people mistakenly assumed it was a Greek word.

A bird forever warning people: "A werewolf!" (just in case of werewolves).

Jesse went to The Hold Steady yesterday and today I found confetti in the bed.

Instead of just bragging to my group text, I wrote about how much my Stubs A-List membership saved me on moviegoing this year—more than $600! 🤘

My entire family has picked up an annoying habit of singing, "I've heard it said," before we say anything stupid.

I don't really use Spotify because we're a physical media family, so my Spotify Wrapped mostly captures the one day I was going through something and listened to the Italian Eurovision song entry like six times in a row. 🤌

No-strings-attached, zero-means-testing, no-questions-asked cash payouts have been proven, over and over again, to be the most effective form of charity/aid going.

It gets people in housing, and it saves the state money. We know this. It's fact, not theory.
An Oregon pilot program giving cash to homeless youths sees a staggering reduction in homelessness. The program gave participants $1,000 cash payments each month for two years, and at the end of the project's first phase, 91% of participants reported being in stable housing.

New Yorkers kept telling me the same thing: they’re thinking of leaving because they can’t afford to raise their kids here. Universal childcare isn’t just a promise — it’s how we make this a city for everyone.

To make up for my last post:

Introduce yourself with five concerts you've seen:

They Might Be Giants
The Hold Steady
The Mountain Goats
Los Campesinos
Rilo Kiley

(I think at least 8x each?)

I told Jesse I wanted to listen to Smashing Pumpkins on the ride home, but maybe I just wanted to listen to Cherub Rock over and over? Anyway, now he's playing Mellon Collie while we unpack and the 10yo wants nothing to do with us.

We have only watched one episode of the new season of Stranger Things, but it is important that everyone know that in the '80s I had sheets and a bedspread in the exact same pattern as Holly Wheeler's wallpaper.

If you were a despotic president, what movie would you force Hollywood to make? I want to see Quentin's Star Trek movie or maybe Kill Bill Vol 3.

The 10yo has gotten into Futurama, and sometimes now when she walks around the apartment I can see her making Zoidberg claw-clacking motions to herself.

We're taking the 10yo to the Stranger Things play tonight. When he got the tickets at TKTS, Jesse was informed that if you show up after 7, they won't seat you until 25 minutes in. Now I'm picturing Demogorgons dancing up the aisles like Cats.
