I built a Rasberry Pi based TV mute controller for my LG WebOS tv, and I'm sending events to @honeycomb.io using their libhoney lib.
Nice to do a non-enterprise grade IT project for a change, i.e for fun.
I'll do a write up & link to the repo

I've been bogged down in writing about cost controls for the past few weeks (current status: 6k words and trying hard to edit down 🥺).. but I took an hour this morning to write up a response to @mattklein123.dev's thought-provoking take on "observability 3.0".

Another observability 3.0 appears on the horizon
Groan. Well, it’s not like I wasn’t warned. When I first started teasing out the differences between the pillars model and the single unified storage model and applying “2.0” to the latter, Christi…

It's handy when job descriptions let you know the red flags early on, by accidently saying the quiet bit out loud

I recently wrote a twitter thread on the proper role of architects, or as I put it, tongue-in-cheek-ily, whether or not architect is a “bullshit role”. It got a LOT of reactions (2.5 we…

I've just completed a large Javascript course 😎
I've worked with JS since 1998 but it's useful to do a complete course in a topic to fill in any gaps. Particularly true for #Javascript as a lot has changed over the years.

I've done a bunch over the years just to keep my hand in with new tech, or solve some problem, and it turns out there are quite a few so I've started documenting them here.
