Year XXVII covering the NFL & year XXII chronicling the Broncos, now for DenverSports.com. “Enjoy every sandwich." -- Warren Zevon
Broncos defensive coordinator Vance Joseph "wasn't totally pleased" with how his D played last week. "I wasn't totally pleased with our tackling. We missed, like, 10 tackles for, like, 45 yards ... the 3rd downs early [weren't] very good. ... I expect us to play better."

Bonus show: Popped on "From the Nosebleeds" on Friday morning for a little extra Broncos chat. (I don't call for a blowout; I do expect a comfortable win.)

I don't think it's possible for any player to love being with a team more than Garett Bolles loves being a part of the Broncos. "To be a part of this and watch this all evolve into something special ... It's truly a special time for me and my family to be a part of," he says.

Broncos coach Sean Payton, on Bill Belichick: "And I'll be honest with you: I miss him, not being in the league. ... And I wouldn't be surprised -- and I would be somewhat hopeful -- that he ends up back in the league. That, we'd all be better for. He's something."

Broncos CB Riley Moss points to last year's loss at Kansas City as a turning point in the Broncos starting to learn how to win close games. But that being said ...

“We don’t enjoy being that close at the end of the game. I’m gonna lose hair. I’m gonna end up bald at 35.”

There's "some magic" to Bo Nix's off-script ability, Adam Trautman says, but making it work for big plays also involves preparation, planning and experience for the receiving targets with Nix to make sure they're in proper position, as Trautman explains:

Broncos coach Sean Payton, on Bo Nix possessing traits that are not coachable: "When you can climb (the pocket) and gain 11 yards, some people have that; some don't. In other words, we can't go work on that on Field B. And -- so, he has that. ..."

Per Pro Football Reference, the Broncos tied record for the most wins by 4 or fewer points in a season -- and did so with six games left!

They share that mark with the 1989 Packers, 1990 49ers, 1993 Raiders, 1998 Cardinals and 2003 Panthers.

If you think the Broncos are a team with the clutch gene, Sunday night reaffirmed your view.

If you think the Broncos are frauds, barely able to beat the league's worst teams, your view was also reaffirmed.

My thoughts on a performance that didn't silence doubters:
Whether You Doubt Them or Believe In Them, Bo Nix and the Broncos ARE Who You Thought They Were!

Broncos 27, Commanders 26 — FINAL

Whatever you believed about the Broncos coming into tonight was proven. Once again, they struggled to put away a lesser foe. Once again, they had just enough in the clutch. Bonitto saves the day at the end. Win streak is 9. Denver is 10-2.

Touchdown — RJ Harvey untouched to cap a drive in which the offense made it look easy, slicing through the Commanders D. 27-20. Washington gets a chance to respond

How about that. Alex Singleton RIGHT THERE to break up the deep pass from Mariota to Zach Ertz. Ertz had a step and the ball, and Singleton was there to poke it out.

4.61 seconds of hang time for Jeremy Crawshaw on a nearly perfect punt ... but Lil'Jordan Humphrey's foot was on the goal line. Touchback.

The fade on third-and-2? Another "that's why they're 3-8" moment

Commanders fans want a penalty against PS2 in coverage against Terry McLaurin, and they won't get it. Broncos hold Washington a a 38-yard Jake Moody FG; the lead is sliced in half to three points, at 20-17.

Bo Nix picked off by Bobby Wagner. The ball went right to the future Hall of Famer, with no one around him. My goodness. Washington set up at the Denver 36.

D.J. Jones questionable to return (ankle).

Yep, it says "RAISE HAIL"
@masedenver.bsky.social My wife was asking. What is on the back wall in each of the end zones? Raise Hail or something like that? We can’t get a good look at it.
