Kinda weird, ain't it? Violent crime rates are terrible in a lot of Red cities, but President Trump is sending troops to Blue cities with much less crime. Why does President Trump hate Red cities so much? Why is the President just abandoning the people who supported him into office?

I've heard, and find more than plausible, that part of why members of the LDS church are encouraged to go on evangelical missions, is that the rejection they frequently experience tends to drive them closer to the Church.

So, following the RFK "logic": I never heard about airbag injuries and deaths when I was growing up in the 1970's, and now we do, so we should ban airbags.

Mr Trump, during his most recent campaign, stated that he could end the war in Ukraine in one day. It would seem that said war still rages on, even after Mr Trump took office. So which is it, Donny? Were you lying? Or are you weak? Or just morally bankrupt? All of the above, maybe?

If our Elected Representatives in Congress continue to cede the Legislature's power and privileges to the Executive, then those Representatives should be recalled and replaced by their constituents.

Mr Trump just can't manage to bring Kilmar Abrego Garcia back from his illegal detention in El Salvador? What a weak, pathetic little man he is. An actual STRONG President would have no problems getting it done. Utterly useless. Tell him I said so. Tell him EVERYONE says so. Please.

The efficacy of nonviolent protest is predicated on at least one of two factors:
1) The party/parties/Party protested against must be capable of feeling shame, and/or
2) The party/parties/Party protested against must have some concern for their public image.

Neither of these are true at this point.

To Congressman Al Green: Thank you, sir. I wish more of your colleagues had followed your lead. Made them eject every dissenting voice, one by one. Let the world see what these "free-speech absolutists" are really about.

Some thoughts. Fair warning, I'm light on sleep and mental health, so it's bound to be a bumpy ride.

1) Mass media, especially television, has clouded out judgment, warped our expectations. Any problem that occurs, we on some level expect to be solved (or at least solvable) in an hour or less.

Been a minute. Been a little busy, recording and mixing a new album for my band. It's done, we have CD's in hand, and I'm kinda proud of it. Coincidentally, we're playing 2 shows this weekend, Saturday evening at Seamus McCaffrey's, Sunday afternoon at the Glendale Folk Festival. Come see us!

I know I should be posting here more often. Establishing my presence. Interacting with others. Truth be told, I'm finding social media particularly difficult right now. I don't feel witty. I don't feel engaging. I feel like talking about how I actually DO feel will only serve to bring others down.

Back from Michigan and mostly thawed out. Working on getting the studio operational. Working on getting D&D up and running again. Oh, and playing with Open Beta on Saturday 2/1 at Fibber Magee's in Chandler. What's new with you?
January 28, 2025 at 8:07 AM
Bags are packed. Couple of last-minute errands today, then home for a quick confab with D&D players, then early to bed, earlier to rise, and to the airport I go. A whole week in balmy, tropical Michigan awaits!

Quite the show with Open Beta last night at Fibber Magee's. Really good crowd, very responsive. Met some new fans who loudly proclaimed we were their exact jam. (The Guinness might have helped with that, tbf.) Felt good to be playing for appreciative folks.

I've been consuming a lot of political content for the past couple of years. I think of it as my penance for years of acting as if politics is just something that happens to other people. I've learned a lot, I think, mostly to my detriment. I think I need to back off on the politics a bit.

Band plays tonight at Fibber Magee's in Chandler. Then I come home and prep the studio for an upcoming client. Tomorrow, laundry & packing. Monday, puttering, then late afternoon meeting, then early to bed so I can get up at an ungodly early hour and fly to Michigan.
It's a bit busy up in here.
