In the last ~6 months someone linked to their blog about using JS-free custom elements for page structure and style in place of a methodology like BEM, e.g. using `<my-element>`/`my-element {}` instead of `<div class="my-element">`/`.my-element {}`. Might have referenced HUG CSS) as well. I'm […]

HEY CANADA.

MP Elizabeth May is sponsoring a petition to get Electoral Reform back in front of Parliament.

Could all of us who were utterly betrayed in 2016 when JT reneged on this please go put our electrons onto this one? yes, yes, the petitions don't mean a thing WILL happen, but there was […]

Looks like the "Six Degrees of Kevin Fox" website no longer exists, and the Wayback Machine doesn't have the underlying data. https://web.archive.org/web/20070629173548/https://www.aquezada.com/kevinfox/

Went to see a production of one of the "50 Greatest Plays of the Past 100 Years" tonight. It was... not good. Wondered why it was scheduled strangely and performed for free, and now I know why.

It took me way too long to figure out that, to create an output file with DOS-style line endings (as required by the iCalendar specification, for example) in #11ty, you just create a template file that has DOS-style line endings. Sometimes things that should be easy are.

There needs to be contract language for government using consultants drawn up that amounts to

When governments flip direction every cycle, long term projects stall and public trust sinks.

This is what first-past-the-post produces by design.

Proportional representation creates stable majorities that support consistent long term policy.

Gotta love a "minor" release that completely rewrites configuration syntax and doesn't provide backward compatibility or migration tooling.

As a now-long-former subscriber to F&SF—because of my own limited time, nothing to do with what's documented—this is still disappointing to read (including today's update). https://www.scottedelman.com/wordpress/2025/11/12/a-dream-denied/

Imagine a commodity that you could buy and sell which literally wasn't anything. It's called "SPEC", and its only purpose is for is speculating on whether SPEC will go up or down. Basically bitcoin but without blockchain, and not as easy to use for crime.

Twenty years ago I would have said that […]

My local CBC outlet has started posting on X again after a 14-month absence. What's the urgent breaking story that warranted their return to the Nazi site? (With a link to YouTube, no less, instead of the CBC website.) #ldnont

Somehow found myself at a Wikipedia page for the Roud Folk Song Index <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_folk_songs_by_Roud_number> and was reminded that, back in the Napster era, I collected something like 50 versions of _The Raggle Taggle Gypsy_. (Not one was credited to Weird Al Yankovic […]

Finally fixed (i.e. rebuilt) the long-broken iCalendar feed on my theatre website. I'm the only one who actually uses it, so it wasn't a priority, but it was a good opportunity to figure out a better way of handling things. As a bonus, I've already found it useful.

Next, the user-facing […]

Looks like no one at #immich ever reported #cursed issue https://github.com/immich-app/immich/issues/10796 to the #npm git repository https://github.com/npm/cli

Also, surprisingly, it appears that neither Immich nor npm have presences in the fediverse.
