I think that all makes sense. But going in I think we all thought he’d be doing these things so really feels like something has either been missed (more likely) or there’s instructions we aren’t getting from the fan perspective (less likely)

Agreed. He might be a complete bust. He might turn it around. Either way I’m nowhere near angry.

I'd really love to get insights into why his movement is the way it is - all these back post runs, specifically. The two cutbacks in the 1st half to the penalty spot when he was well ahead of the ball come to mind. Is he doing things wrong or is he being coached into those spaces??

Gyokores, Jesus & Merino are all perfectly viable imperfect options for starts in the near term. I'm underwhelmed but sanguine. I feel the team is good enough & Mikel has earned my trust that my disappointment isn't translating to stress nor anger...

I just don't see what there is to be angry about if the player is simply unable to perform at our level. It's not his fault if it genuinely is a talent/skills/mental gap to the level. If that's the case, it's a poor transfer & we'll move on.

I'd say all of Leo, Rice, Odegaard, Eze & Martinelli were far off of my expectations. Gyokores had his best passing game, including two good vertical balls, but did nothing else. He was closer to par, but it isn't good enough. 3 starters & 2 subs being far off par is more why we didn't win.

I don’t disagree but last night which one player is most responsible for our lack of attacking threat: our relatively low level striker or one of our world class or near world class wingers and midfielders? VG14 was par last night. A lot of others were miles off it. I’m more frustrated by them

It’s also pretty pointless as far as conversations go. Either Arteta will continue to pick him (suggesting he finds value in GK14 over available alternatives) or he’ll start picking other players to start more. Longer term, either we keep him or we sell him. He’s underwhelmed but we are very good.

In high school me and the boys would pile into a car and drive around changing the radio station until “My Sharona” came on. We’d get so pumped if we found it but i don’t think it happened more than once or twice.
