WR Jauan Jennings (ribs, ankle) and DT Alfred Collins (brace on right knee) were back for at least limited work today at 49ers practice. Ricky Pearsall (knee) and Brock Purdy (toe) were rehabbing together as practice began.

The 49ers just began practice. Brock Purdy was rehabbing on a side field. Mac Jones will likely be listed as limited. During the open portion of practice, Jones looked very limited. Adrian Martinez was basically throwing all the passes during the warmup drills.

GM John Lynch on @knbr on the possibility of the 49ers trading for an edge rusher: "I'm having a lot of conversations, a lot of good and productive ones. ... If we find a way to make our football team better and it aligns, then we will not be shy on pulling the trigger."

S Malik Mustapha was a full participant in 49ers practice as he returns after ACL surgery in January. When asked if he will still play with the same ferocity upon his return to action, he answered, "I didn't get surgery on my brain." He said he is ready to go.

DE Trevis Gipson missed his grandfather's funeral to try out with the 49ers in July. Before he left without a contract, he took a rollercoaster ride at the nearby amusement park. He thought, "Something's telling me, I'll be back.”

Eddy Piñeiro, 11-for-11 on FG attempts since signing with the 49ers, was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week.

He made FGs from 20, 37, 41 and 59 yards in win over the L.A. Rams. It's the fourth such honor on his career.
