Those in UK aged 11-17 said seeing a celebrity gambling or advertising it made them want to emulate them, survey finds
Children as young as 11 feel tempted to try betting after being “flooded” by celebrities and sports stars promoting it, according to two reports that found nearly 90% of children aged 13-17 are exposed to gambling content online.
The UK’s leading gambling charity, GambleAware, which commissioned the reports, urged regulators and policymakers to address social media accounts and influencers producing betting content on platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and Twitch in light of the findings. Continue reading...

I think there’s probably power in being up against people who simply can’t conceive of anyone caring enough to act without being bribed to do so. It means that they cannot imagine, or thereby prepare themselves for, a driven opposition.

It's becoming clearer every single day that cryptocurrency is just an unregulated security hyper-prone to market manipulation. Bitcoin is maybe the only exception, but that's due to its use as the standard in transactions that deal with drugs, human trafficking, and other not so nice things!

Saw a screening of a few of David Lynch’s short films. I miss seeing art made viscerally, cheaply, and for a small messy audience. It actually makes the world feel bigger and more interesting. Mass appeal shrinks it all down.
