Had some family visiting who really wanted to see Mackinac Island! First a visit to the fort and then hiked to Arch rock. Came back to town around the island side and then ate fudge and shopped our hearts out!

Winter in sedge marshland in Northern Michigan. The snow islands are where patches of sedge (similar to grass) hold onto ice and create a platform for the snow. The snow itself was about 2 feet deep!

First crocus bloom of the year! Last fall I planted about 200 bulbs. A mix of yellow white and purple. Seems like yellow is the earliest blooming variety!

Beautiful Torch Lake in Michigan. Around 2 ft of snow on the ground but the temperature was 31° so all on the verge of melting thanks to climate change. The lake used to freeze over and was a hot spot for ice fishing and skating. This year the ice wasn't even thick enough to walk out on.
