Michael Anthony McFaul is an American academic and diplomat who served as the United States ambassador to Russia from 2012 to 2014. McFaul became the Ken Olivier and Angela Nomellini Professor in International Studies in the Department of Political Science at Stanford University in 1995, where he is the Director of the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies. He is also a Peter and Helen Bing Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution. He is also a contributing columnist at The Washington Post. Prior to his nomination to the ambassadorial position, McFaul worked for the U.S. National Security Council as Special Assistant to the President and senior director of Russian and Eurasian affairs, where he was the architect of U.S. President Barack Obama's Russian reset policy. .. more

Chamberlain did not win a Nobel Peace Prize.

The Russian plan is a non-starter. No Ukrainian leader could sign it and survive politically. Europe is exploring alternative ideas, but even a reasonable compromise sent to Moscow will likely be rejected. Putin is the one who wants to keep fighting. As I told @morningjoe-msnow.bsky.social

Trump does not care about Ukrainian sovereignty or democracy. Trump does not frame this war as one between good vs evil, democrats vs autocrats, or the colonized vs the imperialists. He just wants the war to end so he can take credit. The details don't matter to him at all.
Someone very close to Putin once explained to me that Putin thinks that all Westerners can be bought. We have no values; only a price. Dmitriev's prominent role in drafting the latest "peace plan" underscores that Putin assessment. I hope Putin is wrong. I fear for some, he might be right.
