Regime forces are conducting widespread home and rooftop raids in Tehran to destroy satellites and Starlink terminals. This is one of the main reasons less footage is coming out right now. In many cases, terminal owners are being arrested. Locals say the scale of the violence and killing is extreme.

โ€ผ๏ธ Russia, a key ally of Iran, has refrained from criticizing the Iranian authorities. Russian state-aligned and propagandist media portray the protests primarily as a destabilizing factor.

Masses are now marching through Tehran. Preliminary reports indicate the Iranian Tax Administration building is on fire.

Across multiple cities, disturbing updates are pouring in, wounded and killed numbers are rising fast. The regime is throwing everything it has at suppressing the uprising.

Unfortunately, most of the country doesnโ€™t have access to satellite internet to send videos. The situation in Khorramabad is dire. The regime has confiscated the bodies of the dead and is not allowing the families to see them.

Why should ruzzians be allowed to compete in Europe when they attack Europe? It's madness to let ruzzians into Europe.

Huge crowds are out on the streets again in Iran. In Tehranโ€™s Tehranser, Punak, and Saadat Abad districts, footage shows large gatherings chanting slogans like โ€œWeโ€™re waiting for Pahlavi, weโ€™re not going anywhere!โ€

American here. I agree. Sadly, I don't see any other way. Even when the Biden administration was drip-feeding weapons to and trying to micromanage the war in Ukraine, it was clear to meโ€”as well as othersโ€”that the only way for Ukraine to survive is nuclear weapons. Now that's true for everyone else.

After many years, it finally got at me.

I am losing trust in the peer review system.

And I have the strong feeling that, in political science, friendship networks and reputational effects play today a much stronger role of 10 years ago.

I am quite saddened by this.

Tomorrow, the Russian invasion of Ukraine will reach 1,418 days, the exact same number of days as the German invasion of the Soviet Union, from the border crossing on June 22nd to the official proclamation of Victory on May 9th and capitulation of Berlin.

Although I must say that, while the new optional 3D version is cool, I am still deep in love with Oliver's hand-drawn 2D buildings.

Far south in my holdings, instead, we are squarely in a 20c climate. No risk of snow here! But the summer will be hard.

Winter has come to my favourite indie game, a real time, multiplayer, middle-ages economic simulator. It really changes the feeling of the map, even though the northern provinces are starving and whole production lines come at at standstill.

But it is surprising to me, that at this supply situation market prices are not already starting to do their job of reflecting a potential tightness and going up - encouraging more supply and reducing demand.

Expectation might be, that storage gets us through winter, and then v. cheap supplies come

In the EU, at current withdrawal rates (10 TWh/day) storage volume (643 TWh) will last till mid March.

But if fast storage depletion continues - at some moment EU prices will rise - attracting more LNG-tankers and lowering demand -> then storage withdrawal will slow.

Protests raged through the night in Iran. Crowds reportedly torched the Al-Rasul mosque in Tehran, a symbol of the Islamic regime, and set fire to the municipal building in Karaj. Public anger is exploding as the crackdown gets bloodier, and more are calling for the regime to fall.
The Norwegian Nobel Prize committee has been forced to make a statement, declaring that the prize cannot be transferred.
It's hard even to comprehend how stupid this has become

Nah:
The reports of violence, arbitrary arrests, and intimidation tactics by the Iranian regime against its own people are profoundly concerning. Canada strongly condemns the killing of protesters, and urges Iran to allow for freedom of expression and peaceful assembly without fear of reprisal.
