He/him.
The thing is, given his fan base, if he simply said, "God, yes, when I was a teenager, I said some absolutely awful things I wouldn't dream of saying now," then most of them would be absolutely fine with it.

Although I suspect many would also be okay if he was out and out racist today.

Today I learned that Nigel Farage is indeed a racist, but he's a polite and friendly racist. So that's okay, then.

Duly noted!

An excellent point!

Good to know, thank you.

And it was a quest to find some of his books that led Helene Hanff to write from New York to a bookseller on 84 Charing Cross Road.

This is louder, has much more oomph, and works as a Bluetooth speaker. I can also record on it via Bluetooth, so I think I might be making some mixtapes. If I do, I just need to find recipients who actually have a machine to play them on.

Basically I've been buying lots of cassettes direct from musicians, generally via Bandcamp. It seems to be the happening indie format right now. And I had a very old, and small, 1980s cassette player that I was using for them. It was fine but, you know, it sounded like a 1980s cassette player.

My birthday present to myself was the Blaster Curtis from We Are Rewind. It is, I must admit, somewhat larger than I imagined.

Currently playing Sandhills Music by Ben Seretan. On cassette, obviously.

I'm seeing him at the ICA on Wednesday. Enjoy your evening.

I've used it for hotel bookings, travel insurance, my last pair of Allbirds, Who Gives A Crap orders, and all manner of things. They've paid back more than £500 since I joined.

There's no catch. They have an annual fee, but they only take that out of your positive balance. So there's no outlay.

Ooh, that's very helpful. Thank you!
November 23, 2025 at 9:36 AM
So are you suggesting I come and sleep at your house?
November 23, 2025 at 9:32 AM
Cheers!

Reposting for those of you who may have just woken up from an excellent sleep.
I would welcome your recommendations for a great mattress please. Lots of brands out there to choose from and every article testing them seems to have different results. If you've had a good experience, please share.

Full disclosure: I do like mine on the firm side, matron.

Most mattress companies here offer a money back guarantee, 100 days or so.

Not the case over there?

Even if not, surely if it doesn't offer the promised support you can return it?

Why are you stuck with it, Rachael, why oh why?!
