This is an old one, from around 2014? Drogon and Daenerys in the Pits of Meereen. Back when I was doing more medieval-styled work.

A huge black dragon fills the coliseum with flame, as Daenerys approaches, arms out, defying the flame.

It resonated with me when I came across it reading it in Lynch on Lynch.

For the record, when I need facial plane reference, I use William Nguyen's models on ArtStation. They have adjustable primary and secondary lighting, and can be rotated to be viewed from every angle.
