Archaeologists have discovered a previously unknown pyramid structure at the Chupacigarro archaeological site, which is part of the Sacred City of Caral-Supe, in the country of Peru.
The pyramid may date back to 3800 years ago!

Folks in this thread pointing out that low pay for high experience jobs makes them 'hobby jobs' - things for rich folks to do. When we make the cultural infrastructure of our country a hobby for the rich, we end up with a culture that valorises wealth. It is a political choice, and a dangerous one
My God this salary. I love the British Library, I really do. I worked in the Dept. of Medieval Manuscripts as a curatorial fellow & then as a research associate; I have spent hundreds of hours there as a researcher. And I get it, this is the going rate for such positions in the UK. But Jesus Christ.

2024 was a physically challenging year but brought some incredible opportunities my way.
It's been a Rollercoaster, but I'm grateful for the journey and to be pulled out of my comfort zone.

The Menhir di Monte Corru Tundu is six metres in height and located near Oristano in Sardinia. It’s around 5,000 years old and is made of trachytic tuff. There are three circular depressions carved into it.

The Necropolis of Banditaccia is an incredible Etruscan site! There are over 1,000 tombs, a small section of which is open to the public. Dating from the 9th century BCE, the necropolis was built by the inhabitants of Caisra (modern Cerveteri)

Centuries ago, many astronomical books included moving parts to help readers interpret the world around them.

This biscuit recreates a diagram from Sacrobosco’s ‘De Sphaera’ (c.1550). It could be used to calculate the changing length of daylight hours through the year. 🍪
