The Necropolis of Banditaccia is an incredible Etruscan site! There are over 1,000 tombs, a small section of which is open to the public. Dating from the 9th century BCE, the necropolis was built by the inhabitants of Caisra (modern Cerveteri)

St. Paul’s Catacombs in Rabat, Malta are an extensive network of palaeochristian tombs, some of which date back to the 3rd or 4th century BCE. A notable feature are the ‘agape’ tables probably used for funerary feasts.

One of the best-preserved mosaics at the Domvs Romana in Rabat, Malta.

This townhouse was once part of a busy, walled, Roman town called Melita.

My favourite megalithic arch so far…part of a Roman defensive wall in the town of Segni, Italy. Worth the steep walk but take water not lipgloss. Was quite disappointed at myself when I looked in my rucksack 😂

Cart-ruts on the left, Classical Period quarries on the right. These parallel tracks in Malta have been talked about for decades. Who made them, how, when and why? Most likely they were made for wheeled carts to transport blocks from regular quarries in Punic-Roman times.
