Going to be entirely blunt with the US folks, you need to absolutely talk about defending section 230 as well, when it comes to talk of censorship.

Without section 230 the internet as you know it will die, as any website can functionally be sued for nonsense out of existence with ease.

Just heard disappointing news that @warren.senate.gov will co-sponsor the Kids Online Safety Act again despite overwhelming opposition from LGBTQ, human rights, abortion rights, and racial justice groups.

This is a horrific betrayal of her constituents, particularly trans youth and their families.

So ah, any news on this? It's been a few days now and there's been shockingly little talk about it following the ruling.
My previous post on this was probably a bit too quick to go into doom mode. This blog post + comments seem to give a bit more nuance to it. Still unsure so if anyone who understands CJEU legalese wants to weigh in, feel free.

I’m periodically going to be posting fundraising skeets for @fightforthefuture.org as we get into our year end push.

Unfortunately, we’re facing a big budget gap this year. We lost major funders over our principled stances.

We stay fighting. But we need your support

ID Checks and AV laws won't make kids safe. It'll only make the problem worse.

When calling your Senator, please also mention to defend Section 230.

And for those in Wisconsin, please make sure to call your State Senators about AB 105 / SB 130.

Now I don't think the State Senates are in session right now, but it doesn't hurt to just call and leave a message.

A new week has come so you know what that means? More calls.

As a reminder when calling your House Rep you need to also tell them about:

KOSA
SCREEN Act
COPPA 2.0
RESET Act
Sammy Act
App Store Accountability Act
GAMING Act
Safe Messaging for Kids Act
Parents over Platforms Act

Cont.

KOSA has amassed more cosponsors recently, jumping from 42 to 60 total

You need to call your reps and DEMAND that they oppose this legislation ASAP

No vote today and there's still a lot of disagreement on these bills, but I wouldn't be complacent.

Republicans say they're looking to "shoehorn" in KOSA, SCREEN or other restrictions into the must-pass defense bill coming up later this month.

Make noise. There's poison in the sausage.

They’re describing it as a “shock and awe” campaign, which is why it’s essential to show them there’s huge opposition NOW. Call / email your reps to let them know you oppose censorship bills like KOSA and the SCREEN.

Read up and get involved in the @fightforthefuture.org Week of Action.
With SCREEN Act and KOSA on the legislative block this week, there couldn't be a better time for Fight's "Stop Online ID Checks" Week of Action.

Today's action: Share and sign the petition.

We've upgraded our Age Assurance system to comply with upcoming laws in Australia and other regions, and to restore access to people over 18 in Mississippi.

Plus, we fixed some bugs and laid the groundwork for improved "who to follow" suggestions in the near future.
