I'm an autistic woman from Germany, who contributed for the fight against chatcontrol in Europe. #StopScanningMe
I'll post it directly since the first post is relevant for all british citizens because it mentions politicians outside of my reach (I'm a German citizen) and the least I can do is to share it publicly for all british folks to take action right away.

This week we're also specifically focused on the way that online age verification laws threaten access to information about abortion and reproductive health.

Not just for young people (which is bad enough) but for EVERYONE.

So, between a horrid hearing yesterday and a potential push to sneak KOSA and other bills into a must-pass end-of-year defense bill, I've opted to make a new script against the House of Energy and Commerce.

Call them. Often. We cant let them win.

if the politicians are aware this a fight they can lose, then we can still win this, keep on contacting your reps/senators!

while its scary that US politicians are trying to fast track so bogus "child online safety" bills at once, I think their behavior belies the fact that they are aware this is a fight they can lose

but we have to fight them. get friends and family involved.

Neither is fine, this fucking Bill needs to die. And people need to bully and make the lives of ever politician present in this disaster of a meeting miserable. Nothing but a state surveillance tool disguised as wanting protect kids.
says KOSA can be used to censor LGBT and climate related speech if Senate version of the bill is enacted, but that house KOSA is fine.

Look, I know this is a scary situation we’re in right now, but please don’t let up!

Call your Senators and reps to oppose KOSA and the other 18 child “safety” bills, call the E&C committee and tell them how dissatisfied you were, and tell your family and friends about this! #SaveSpeech
Some key takeaways from today’s hearing:

-Many acknowledged that Senate KOSA is a threat to free expression.

-Bills discussed have similar issues to KOSA, esp online ID checks.

-The bad idea that surveillance + censorship will keep kids safe online drove the discussion.

KEEP AT EM! ✊
NEW: We hosted a live-stream of today's House Energy & Commerce committee hearing to provide commentary + analysis as Congress considers bills that would mandate online ID checks across the internet and censor very important resources for young people.

Remember that huge Discord data breach in Europe earlier this year, when so many folks had their identities stolen because of easy access to their IDs?

That is one BIG reason to NOT support online ID verification.
You shouldn’t have to present your ID, credit card info, or face to be scanned just to access your favorite sites, news, or games yet this is the growing reality for Internet users globally. We need a firestorm to take down online ID checks for good-- so we planned one. Join us for a week of action!

anyway, KOSA's back again. please call your house reps again, so we can hopefully narrowly avoid it again, and wait for it to be reintroduced again, and do the same thing again, because morons voted for conservatives and centrist dems again.

Come on guys, it's time to fight and #SaveSpeech call like your life depends on it and tell your reps to vote no on KOSA and CSAM
#SaveSpeech

KOSA and the Stop CSAM act are both extremely high priority

Lawmakers are looking to repeal section 230 and they are getting phone calls ENCOURAGING reps to do so!

We need to call and drown out the opposition so we can save a free and open internet!
#SaveSpeech

KOSA is continuing to pick up co-sponsors. You need to call your representatives and demand they oppose this bill!
